Vancouverians, if one was to visit your delightful city, when would be the best time to do so?
Not that I can afford to right now, but I'm making very vague plans.
And don't say never. You're beaten to the punch already.

Summer, man.
From June to about September should be alright, it gets kinda hot for me in the middle of summer, but I'm used to the cold, it's really pretty mild. Also, if the last few years are anything to go on, you can avoid our famous rain. Also it's reaal pretty in the summer.
Also, ALSO, the winter is so damn depressing, even if you like winter, Vancouver is NOT the place for it, no winter wonderland, just gray, cloudy, rainy, sad.
So, in summation, about July.

That depends. Do you want to visit Vancouver Vancouver, or Sunny Vancouver? Which one would a Northern Barbarian like you prefer?
And by Vancouver Vancouver, I mean the Vancouver where it only rains once a year.
October to July.
And yes, the summer is great. Doesn't get unbearably hot, most of the time, at least, under the shade of the forest, if the our naturescape's something you'd like to see.

How cold is the coldest winter?
Swiss Mercenary on 24/2/2007 at 02:54
This winter was hellishly cold. We had -5 C for a week. And half a meter of snow total.
Usually, it rarely dips below 0. Rarely stops raining, either. So, essentially, cold, damp, dark, and dreary.
Hidden_7 on 24/2/2007 at 02:55
Err... Well, put it this way, it's real wet here, like it rains all the time throughout winter.
And snow is rarity. We get like, maybe a week of snow per winter, usually less.
So not that cold. You'll get a cold snap of a few weeks were it will be minus some not very big number, but it doesn't get and stay very cold in the winter. Like I said, just wet and cloudy.

Oh, please. Right now, it's -23C here.
I'm asking for the coldest possible Vancouverian winter, so I'll know what to pack.

Sports pants, raincoat, and T-shirt. That's what I wear. If it's another 'hundred year' snowfall, you can also bring a sweater.
Don't skimp on the raincoat.
Why the hell would you want to come here in the winter, anyways? Just asking.
Gray on 24/2/2007 at 02:58
Noted.
People tell me it's generally rainy, but I wasn't sure just how rainy.
[Edit]
Why visit in winter? Well, because it's more convenient for me. Also, I'm slightly unaccustomed to warm weather. Did I mention I live north of the arctic already?

Like every bloody day rainy. It changes from day-long dripping to alternating showers and a bit of sunlight, to raining cats and dogs, to the monthly torrential downpour.
You don't want to be doing
anything outdoors in the case of the latter.
If you don't like warm (20-28 Celcius) weather, and don't like a lot of rain, then you're best off coming late spring. The rains are less frequent then, and it doesn't warm up yet.
Or not coming at all.
Although as I said, if you're here to see the trees, it's nice and cool in the shade, even in the middle of the summer.
