The devs did a great job of inspiring the vampiric bloodlust in your char. When you can't take any quests, talk to anyone, buy or sell anything, and even your former friends refuse to talk to you there's not a whole lot left to do EXCEPT to kill. I actually found it kinda cool the way how it was hard to roleplay a good vampire. Saving people's lives is kinda hard when they attack you on site.
