Red, a vampire is NOT ALIVE, so the cave rats, etc. shouldn't be able to kill me...
Yes well i didn't say they'd kill you I simply said they'd end your immortality.
Morrowind vampires are different than traditional vampires they combine attributes of both the dead and the living. I seem to remember a designer saying something along the lines of "morrowind vampires are not dead but they aren't living either".
Morrowind Vampires can 'die' by rat bites, and drowning and they lack 'powers' which you'd normally expect a vampire to display like being able to see in the dark.

Hmm.. don't forget that you're a weak little newbie leech; perhaps you'd gain more powers after a few tens or hundreds of years?

Is there a way to make the 'weakness to common disease' spell have a constant effect? (y'know, constant like the energizer bunny, it keeps going and going... lol)
Forsythe on 16/7/2002 at 20:50
Short answer: No.
Longer answer: No, but you can enchant an item with a constant-effect spell. Take a look at the 1st 2 pages on here and you'll find a plethora of enchanting info, even without the search function.
Edit: Btw, by "on here" I mean the two Morrowind boards, not just this particular thread.

I played as a vampire for a while, and I found it really boring. I didn't notice the skill bonuses, cause I didn't really need them. Everything was still killable in 1 hit (being a vamp or not). But once I turned into a vampire, I found most quests not playable, and the few vampire ones dissapointing. Fetch me this... kill this weakling, then your supposed to just kill other vampires from other clans. Only people in the mages guild and telvanni would not try and kill me. After about 3 hours of vampirism, I went off to the daedra shrine and got cured. Vampirism=Boring!

First off, I'd like to say thanks to whoever put up the spoiler for the xbox cheats(in the "sigh... disapointing", or some similarly named section of this Morrowind hints and spoilers forum. Next, with the new codes I had, I went to the Andrethi ancestral tomb, hoping to become a vampire, but screwed myself outta that chance by killing all the vampires. What should I have done, just stood there refilling my health until one of them diseased me, or when you refill health, does that kind of nullify the, or start over, the random hits that it takes to become a vamp? There is one good thing, I am up to level 3, and may continue to attack people randomly just to try and level up some more, but the answers to my questions would be VERY helpful.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and answer my questions!
goodnight, all.

Don't kill the vampires just stand there and take it like a man / woman. I don't believe that restoring your health during battle reduces your chance of contracting the disease but it is true that some vampires seem to have more of a chance of giving you the disease than others.

I saw that the Berne vamp haunt, Galom Daeus was listed on the map to find vamp HQ, but will the Galom Daeus observatory be listed on the map that came with my xbox version of Morrowind, so that I can actually see where I'm going ( the map that you all provided is a great help in locating the vamp HQ's, but it is rather dark, and I couldn't see where to go.) If it is not listed on my map, then could someone give me the exact directions so I won't get lost? Also, on the starter vampire locations, when I would get bitten in the Andrethi tomb, I thought I could just come back anytime and recieve my orders from them, boy was I wrong!! ( I believe they're exact syntax was ' Oh, no, a vampire! Go away!') Also, when and if I find my vamp HQ, will they know that I am a berne vamp, or will they regard me something of a renegade vamp?

The Galom Daeus observatory is on the official map; if you find where 'uvirith's grave' is in the molag amur region you'll see two large dwemer ruins to its left. The Galom Daeus observatory is the more southern of the two ruins - if you look at the picture closely you'll be able to see the brass coloured telescope in front of the two towers.
In regards to the other questions -
You can only get orders from the vampire 'master' at the relevant HQ.
When talking to the vampires of your own clan they will not attack you but they will be hostile to you calling you 'little monster', 'new blood' etc. The vampires of your clan view you as a 'mistake' and this is why you can't join the clan just get in the clan masters 'good books' by doing dangerous missions for him/her.

Red, I don't believe you were the one that referred to this, but someone on this board said that as a vamp, jumping over the Odai river in Balmora was very fun. I was wondering if you have to join a certain clan for a particular stat boost, or if you join any clan, and certain boost comes later, or if you must manually upgrade your acrobatics skill? Also, could someone please give me the stats gained later with the Berne clan.
Pertaining to the river jumping/acrobatics question, I have an acrobatics skill level of 51, so, help me, please!!
