I recently started a new char., under a birthsign that makes you a vampire. I accidently punched someone, and of course gaurds came after me. I used the ~ command console and typed in 'payfinethief' and 'setpccrimelevel 0' but they continued to beat the crap out of me. They killed me. Why didn't it work!? Is it because I'm a vamp?
BTW
Shortest existence in histor, she lasted a grand total of 4 minutes.
I'm bloody brilliant.

Unless I'm really mistaken, none of the (
http://www.elderscrolls.com/codex/codex_birthsigns.htm) birthsigns allow you to automatically become a vampire. You have to get bitten by a vamp no matter what your birthsign is.
Unless I'm not reading them right.
Or unless you're playing with a plugin or mod.

There's a mod which adds a vampire birthsign. Personally, I prefer a mod which adds alchemical ingredients with Vampirism. I think it should be difficult to become a vampire, but I can just imagine some character furtively concoting a vampire potion in the Mage's Guild basement, or high atop Tel Uvirith (whilst laughing insanely, of course)
*cough*
Oh, and I believe that guards automatically attack vampires, regardless of criminal status. Especially Ordinators.

Must have something to do with how much they like tha player also, since some guards just told me to take a hike when I came too close. Dunno why anyone would want to play as one tho. The game should be modded atleast somewhat to make vampirism enjoyable. Absolutely no services in towns annoys me atleast, surely there would be some elements that wont care about the person they trade with, but only about the shiny coins..

If I recall correctly, most NPC's (especially Dark Elves) will shun vampires, and will either be unhelpful, refuse to talk to you, or even attack you. Generally, the only people who will actually speak to you are members of the Mages Guild or House Telvanni. There are a few of them (like Sirilonwe in the Vivec Mages Guild or Raven Omayn in the Telvanni Council Hall) how "have an interest" in vampires and have quests only for vampire PC's. Also, if you join a vampire clan, some of them have service providers in their bases. But I don't think you were ever intended to be able to play the entire game as a vampire.

4 minutes? Good job ^.^
As a Vampire, your only means of travel is Divine Intervention/(.. the other one), Mark and Recall and the Propylon Indexes. I think that's it anyway. Being a vampire is fun for a while, jumping from mountain top to mountain top... But if I were you, and I had Bloodmoon, I'd go ahead and become a werewolf. You look cooler and people don't attack you all the time ;)

Btw, Kimi, NPC's don't suddenly stop attacking because of those console commands you did; all that did was eliminate the reason for them to initially attack you. Leaving the cell (ie: entering/exiting a room) and then re-entering usually resets neutral NPC's continuing to attack you.
