Geez, with all the grumpy, misanthropic cynics on this board nobody has yet trashed the idea of Valentine's Day? Are you guys on lunch break or something?
Well let me be the first. Fuck Hallmark Day. I think it's ridiculous. My wife agrees (yes, really).

The day after Valentine's Day, another message board I visit was inundated by terribly disappointed posts from disgruntled women, saying how their significant others had RUINED Valentine's for them by not putting enough effort into making it Special. It was quite frightening, reading about all these great expectations and complaints about what they got instead. Scary ladies.
(For the record, I had a lovely day involving good friends, good food and good drinks. Possibly due to having no special expectations at all.)

For me, Valentine's Day's only validation was buying two big bags of those little candy heart things.
They're probably on sale now. I should go buy some more.

I used to visit a supposed all female forum. I couldn't stand it! Either it is so sickening sweet and peachy, it made me want to puke, or womens lib, the men haters club. GAH!
Expectations are too high on Valentines Day, I agree. Love should be 365 days, not just one.

I took the missus to Paris for the weekend.
Thus I win.
Fuckers.

Women are seriously scary at times, I find.
Valentine's Day is artificial bollocks (no disrespect to said items intended), as is Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandparents' Day etc. etc.
But Paris would have been nice.

My husband and I have always exchanged Valentine's gifts. It's not supposed to be just the guy who spends money, is it?
Are we... doing it wrong? :weird:
God, no wonder so many guys break up with their girlfriends right before Valentine's Day.

Well, if you're going to break up..might as well do it before the day your wallet takes a huge hit.
God, I am so cynical.
