-Spoiler Warning!!!-
Playing the standard game I noticed some things. I never saw the magic sword by the reaper after having played the game through at least 4 times. I clicked on the big plant multiple times... no sword.
Never got the serpent statue from the goblin, got a fish instead after having killed off all the worms.
No matter what I do, when I enchant a sword I get Accuracy instead of Damage.
The three golems near the entrance to Praecor Loth don't attack if I take the coffers. This seems bugged.
Has anyone seen differently?
What does the cat give you or tell you if you talk to the wisp for him? I seem to forget that every time.
Does the axe of fire doom or axe of lifestealer do more damage than a fully enchanted black sword?
Thanks.
This is one of the best games of all time in my opinion.

Which reaper are you referring to? There's four of them in the game if I remember correctly.

Seems like you've been hit by a bug there. I've never come accross that myself.

The wisp reveals the tale of the Cat's ancestors - a flying race that hurls fireballs at each other. Imo, a reference to the Kilrathi; there's another joke about them in Ultima 7.

The only magical sword hidden by a Reaper that I know of is on level four of the Castle Britania sewers. There's a (comparatively) large plant with red parts near where the armoury key is hidden, if you try to right-click and drag the plant it reveals a jeweled sword of major damage.
As for enchanting swords, I'm not sure if it's random or predetermined what enchantment each sword gets, but keep trying and you should find one that gives you damage.
One sword I found years ago but have never seen again is called 'Stonehold' or something, looks ordinary iirc. It has a chance to petrify an enemy when you hit it. Anyone know where it is?

-Spoilers continue so... -
The sword of stone strike is in Praecor Loth's tomb I believe. I think it is near the first fire elemental on level 1 by the water behind a locked portcullis. It nearly always paralyzes when you hit.
Yes I meant the the reaper in B4. I never get that sword to appear. In fact what I find is a broken sword in that area. Maybe I will go back down and try again. I never find it. I realize it is the big plant they refer to but it does not appear. Seems to me that would make the game alot easier in the early part.
So, do you get anything for going back to the cat after talking to the wisp?

Try rearranging 'Trilkhai'. ;)
I don't think you get anything from Blackie (IIRC) - after all what can a cat give you? - other than a conversation.
re the weapons: Axe of Fire Doom does more damage against wooden things (ie reapers - can't think of any others) than Lethe's sword, but otherwise no. Nor does Battle Axe of LifeStealer, but it has another desirable property, which is especially useful against the really tough enemies like
Mors Gotha.

What else does the Lifestealer do?
To defeat the end game
Mors Gotha, I just use a scroll of smite foe. If you looked everywhere, including the portal-only room in Anonduos, you should have two of these. Gets rid of her in a hurry.
It does the old trick of transfering an enemy's health to you whenever you damage it. Hence the name.

True, but that'd take out pretty much anybody. For a good old-fashioned brawl, Mors is about as tough as they get. Which made me wonder, which were the toughest enemies. I reckon Dorstag is the hardest, and Lethe and the dire reaper probably also figure in there somewhere. Any official numbers anywhere?
twisty on 29/10/2005 at 01:18
Yeah Dorstag was definitely one of the hardest enemies. I liked the way that he would switch weapons based on your distance from him. Come to think of it, that's just another feature that the UW games pioneered.

Dorstag's a bugger, but that's probably because you're pre-Vas rune and can't enhance your armour/weapons and you're not sufficiantly beefed up yet.

Eh, I've never had much trouble with either Mors Gotha or Dorstag, the good old lockstep (step into melee range, take a swing, step out of melee range) tactic always does the trick for me; my characters rarely suffer much injuries in the process.
