These things have existed since the beginning of civilization. They are the leaders of the tribe/city/country. They typically have a disproportionate amount of money and power, and most importantly they DO exist, even today. The movie "The Skulls" is based on the "skull and bone society" at... hmm the college Bush went to. Its an ivy leauge college. Whats interesting about it is several of the past presdients were members of this society. Its EXTREMELY prestigious. to be a member of it. Very similar to Fraternaties at most colleges. The Knights of Templar, The Free Masons, The Trilateral Commision (mentioned in Deus Ex), the Skull and Bone society, they all exist or existed. Typically the members have huge amounts of wealth and as a result can influence political figures/policies. Some are more exclusive in who can join, and some are strictly bound by family lineage. Of course obviously these societies don't have the power they once held, but i'm sure behind the scenes they are useing their "invisible hand" (illuminati) to influence key events.

You're so stupid. It's exactely people like you being responsible for rumours about conspiracies and the like.
OMG, Warren Spector contains 13 letters! OMG, if you link letter to cipher a=1, b=2 aso, and add Warren Spector up, you come up with 175, whose crossfoot is 13! OMG, if you juggle the letters of Warren Spector around a bit, you can build raptor, or arse, or parrot, car, war! OMG, if you turn Warren around, it sounds like narrow!
Jesus goddamnit.
Santa Claws is right. Simply because i can find correlations in ANYTHING to ANYTHING doesn't have any significance at ALL. I can compare Anything to Anything in about 5 degrees. Some sooner. For example.
Great Wall of China to University of Texas at Austin.
THe Great wall of China was built to keep the mongols out.
The Mongols are from mongolia which is close to the size of texas.
The capital of Texas is in Austin.
As is the University of Texas.
Wow. The mongols predicted the future and knew of America 1000's of years befroe columbus did. Amazing. Must be some sort of conspiracy. Or guess what. That means nothing. Its simply an example to demonstrate the stupidity of reading that deeply into ANYTHING.
Oh and as for the original post. Yes Warren Specter does have an interest and working knowledge of several secret societies/conspiracies and he demonstrates it in his games. Thats part of what makes them so immersive, a hint of reality even in the game world.

You have to understand something; the mason initiates use code words and name aliases to signal each other. You can't hope to understand who is who and doing what without understanding their codes. Deus Ex for example is riddled with masonic code words like for example "who will help the widow's son", which is a question masons can ask each other when they want to know if they are one or not. Also the computer AI's represent the Trinity, with Helios being the Sun God resurrected (Horus). If you haven't studied masonic symbolism you will not notice any of these things. One or two coincidences can pass, but one after another after another... I think not.

Thanks for the information!:thumb:
In the place where I live, only the most careful and professional players of Age of Empires would know who Templars are, not to mension Mason or Illuminati.:(
I am the only one playing DX I know personally (not including TTLG members worldwide).

Friend: "Illuminati? Did you misspell 'illumination' or what?"
Me: "No, it's Latin, and it's a name of a secret organization..."
Friend: "Latin? Is that some music like Ricky Martin?"
