I'm going to town making potions with my "Journeyman" mortar, alembic, retort and calcinator, but I also have a set of "Master" equipment. I ... err ... borrowed it.
But that's beside the point. The Master gear doesn't seem to work for me. Just failure after failure. Is Alchemy skill related to successful potion making, and how high does it have to be to use each of the different grades of tools?

Hmm. I had more success with my Journeyman set compared with my apprentice set. Alchemy skill was about 40 and I succeeded about 40% of the time. Haven't got a master set yet.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think only the mortar would have any effect on the chance of success. The others only affect the magnitude and duration of the effects. I think.

I have a full set of GrandMaster alchemical stuff, and it seems like I succeed just as much with it as I do with the lower quality ones, BUT there is that "quality Factor" that (like amorer's hammers) makes the potion more potent. Just an observation...i will test it out later tonight.
