No, I'm making a general remark: if you find that sort of joke funny when taken in its fully intended and desired context, I think you have to be an asshole. Only assholes derive humour from the possible effects this sort of joke has - outrage - upset - anger - emotional responses that are negative or harmful. Unless you're one of those people who has no standard to which humour cannot drop and start mocking, like legless Iraqi amputees and so on.
Mocking the Bald Eagle that cries tears of blood with NEVAR FORGET stamped across the towers is one thing, but this is something else entirely.

So according to you, I only laughed at that because it would upset people like you?
Has it occured to you that offensive jokes may be funny as jokes instead of just something others will take offense to?
also, thread derail complete

It
doesn't upset me particularly, if you must know, but since I know that its sole intention I can't help but find it to be a nasty, petty piece of film-making only aiming to ride on a wave of controversy than any original comedic value or genuine artistic merit - and yes, I say all of this
in spite of the fact that it's Uwe Boll as director.
Seriously, are people that
schadenfreude-centric?
Jeshibu on 13/9/2007 at 14:37
No. Are you that easily offended on other people's behalf?
Feel free to hate this particular bit of film for attempting to ride a wave of controversy, but don't assume that if it elicited a giggle from someone, that someone is automatically an asshole.

Okay, I'll assume you're an asshole for other reasons. ;)

The thing is that it goes from mocking the kind of whackos who hijack planes just to get laid in Heaven, which is okay (the mocking, not the hijacking), to mocking the actual events, which is despicable. It's fun to make fun of nutjobs, it's not to make fun at a tragedy. It's purposely deceitful in that only in the last moment you realize you're laughing at real people dying, and that's a disgusting trick.

What do you mean "mocking the actual events". How can you mock and event? You can't, that's how. Look it up.
And it's not meant to make you laugh AT the event - no one is supposed to go "hurrr, people died lol"! ffs, it is mocking the highjackers and the bizarre notions (supposedly) used to get people to do this stuff. That it adds the actual WTC at the end only serves to add a bit of extra shock, and it worked for me.

Oh piss off with your high-horse humour policing. Who laughs at jokes JUST because they are meant to offend? Un-PC jokes are funny because they are funny, the fact that they are in bad taste just makes them a bit more risque. You admitted yourself that you laughed at the 9/11 knock-knock joke. How much of an asshole does that make you? I don't know what happened in San Fran Scots, but you need to chill out.
And on that note:
How do you get 3000 Americans into a cardboard box?
Tell them the last McDonalds is inside.
Oh, lol, I crack me up.

My English isn't as good as I'd like.
Basically I agree with you, except about the WTC bit at the end. What I meant wasn't "lol people die", but rather that the inclusion of the WTC makes it hard to dissociate the joke from the outcome of the attack. I don't know if this is any clearer...
