I have spent countless hours reading through the very similar (
http://www.tomwaitslibrary.com/lyrics-by-album.html) Lyrics section at the Tom Waits library and I've been looking around for similar sites detailing the references and backstories behind lyrics of my other fave artists, with no luck. Until now, thanks Turtle. :D
I kiss you!

I don't want to post in the Random Youtube thread again and I sure as hell can't post it in the 9/11 thread... but uh, (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt_tv7t79WY) here it is.
1. Wow. Holy fuck, wow. I mean... just, fuck, well, wow.
2. That's been around since
MAY?
3. That's seriously in the movie?
4. Wow.

Ooold. But yeah, I was genuinely surprised Uwe Boll could be funny intentionally.

Ha ha. I like it. I might actually watch this.

I personally think the only people who could find such recycled humour reconstituted in such a tactless and obviously sensationalist way actually funny have to be complete and utter assholes.

Well I found it very funny, until the point at the very end where they showed it as an actual WTC plane. In the fictitious context of a movie, the joke worked (a bit like (
http://www.ahajokes.com/cartoon/training.jpg) this one), but mixing it with the true event
was tasteless and it ruins the whole thing. Final impression is, it feels like a very bad prank on the viewer. :erg:

I'm talking about the whole thing taken together and to be honest, it seemed fairly obvious after a few moments where the whole thing was going.
henke on 13/9/2007 at 13:50
Yes it was, but you have to take into account it was made by Uwe Boll. And after years of Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne and House of the Dead, that scene from Postal looks like just about the greatest and funniest scene in film history. If it was directed by anyone else it would be crap, but little Uwe is
special, so we feel compelled to applaud.
edit: haha, just checked (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uwe_boll) Mr. Bolls' Wikipedia page. I'm guessing the last part of "Writings" is a case of Wiki-terrorism. :D
Quote:
WritingsBoll has written three books, Wie man in Deutschland einen Film drehen muss (How to Make a Movie in Germany) and Die Gattung Serie und ihre Genres (Series and Their Genres), on themes of serial TV. Boll's third book discusses his urge to molest small children.

Was it? Not to me.
So because a.I haven't seen that many jokes about this kind of thing and therefore it's not recycled
to me, and b. you thought it was obviously going to be a WTC crash whilst it came as surprise to me that somehow makes me an asshole? Fuck you.
Of course it's not an intelligent nor fantastic joke. But it's way above par for what we'd expect from Boll and that's what makes it amusing to me, something that has been echoed by others. I wonder - does that make them an asshole on the Scots-a-scale too or am I getting some sort of personal attack vibe correct here?
