Although the website claims the utility now works with Vista, it looks like there are still a few kinks to work out. While it can find 27 devices when run it fails to actually list them for me, which seems to undermine the point.

Are you running the latest beta? Version 1.2 does what you say and doesn't list the devices, but version 1.4.20 works for me on Windows 7 so I would imagine it will work on Vista as well.

Is there an "I'm stupid" emoticon? Cuz I could use that right now. Saw a big ol' "download" button and went for it like a moth to a flame, didn't even bother to see if it was the latest version.
Anyway, the correct version of the program reveals some potentially interesting information. It shows not one but two unknown devices when my phone is linked to my computer, even though the message at the top claims "No unknown devices found." Furthermore, both entries give the "Invalid Hardware ID: Vid_0000&Pid_0000" message that you anticipated earlier.

Glad you got it working, but given that it's come up with an invalid vendor and product ID I'm running out of things to suggest. I hoped that perhaps it was just a problem with the driver but it looks like Windows (or your device) simply aren't enumerating correctly.
Have you tried plugging your phone into an external hub. I'm clutching at straws, I'm afraid, but if it's down to the chipset drivers in your internal hubs then it might be worth a shot.

Ah, no such luck. But thank you anyway for all your help.

Sorry I couldn't help. There are a few things that I'd be inclined to at least look at before giving up:
* Try booting Vista in safe mode and then plugging in the device
* Although unlikely, temporarily disable anti-virus / firewall software and try again
* Take a look at (
http://www.thedave.ca/geek/windows-vista-usb-device-detection-problems/) http://www.thedave.ca/geek/windows-vista-usb-device-detection-problems/
* Ensure you're fully updated with service packs - (
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941600) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941600 may help if not
* Check the Windows event log to see if it records problems which coincide with plugging in your phone.
* Try a Linux boot CD installation to check whether the problem is limited to Vista or could be down to an interaction between your hub and USB device.
