242: 100% sure on respawns (or atleast for me anyway). Before patching at the area where Bes was, respawning was to the point where I`d not even get the chance to loot the dead bandits before more showed up.
On the way to that area, I passed one area (just after the stalker base), clearing a few bandits along the way, then cleared several more at the Bes area. I then took the time to loot the bodies. No respawning yet. Went to a stash locker to place some things, and still no respawn. I then went back to the stalker base, to go and speak with Mole, and encountered no respawns along the way (before patching I`d always have to fight respawns inbetween the Bes area and the stalker base).
After I`ve spoken to Mole I`ll go back and check again.

That sounds great, I'll update in that case. No need to make the installer sit on my hard drive doing nothing. :p

A dev wrote that Free Play Mode and other promised earlier major changes for 1.0003 that actually didn't make it into the patch, would be implemented with 1.0004 as some shift of version numbers occured. Current 1.0003 US|Worldwide was intended to be 1.0002 initially. They made 1.0002 but THQ QA didn't approve it so they released 1.0002 for Russian version only (they are publishers of russian version). After some refinement of 1.0002 and approvement from THQ they had to release it with different number, so it became 1.0003.

Its unknown. I think they dont use 0x because after 4 or 5 (?) years of development these little things really seem more like 000x :)
