Not looking so good for the Fentanyl zombies.
And for the white-collar-not-zombie ones?
That's a powerful imaginery (the hobo-homeless zombies), but that's not the only reality of the fentanyl use.
You know where it is produced, right?

Yeah well, those people used to have jobs, families a house a car etc.
And they all threw it away for Fentanyl, originally used for cancer pain treatment.
The problem is that they keep increasing their numbers.

Yeah, they just threw it all away, like their brains gave them options. It's always a free choice.
A co-worker was given oxy for a broken leg. That led to an oxy addiction, which was then follow by the use of fentanyl. Now he's on methadone for the rest of his life, and recovering.
Another co-worker was given oxy for a toothache. That led to an oxy addiction, where he maxed out all his mother's credit cards. Now he's on methadone for the rest of his life, and recovering.
In just one of the places where I work there are four such recovering addicts. None of them had what I would describe as a choice in "throwing it all away" as you seem to so flippantly describe.

Yeh, I had some hip damage years ago and was given oxy for the (very intense) pain. My doctor only gave me 1 packet without repeats. I have used a reasonable amount of recreational drugs in my time, but my lord. I thank my doctor for his foresight.

Also it's a myth that the poor, welfare recipients and the homeless are the primary market for drugs. They're not the primary market for anything. Drug dealers are not a charity - their primary customer base is people with money.
That's why you get events such as the time Florida screened welfare recipients for drugs, and the cost of doing the drug test exceeded the value of the welfare checks they saved by kicking people off. It turns out people who need welfare can't afford illegal drugs, which are artificially inflated in price due to the black market nature. The whole point of a drug war is to push the price up so that people stop buying the drugs. Which prices poor people out.

Don't say it too much loud :p
The market just offers discount dynamics for the goods primary targeting the ones with money.

With opiates, there's different versions of the product for different income levels. And cocaine isn't known for being a cheap drug. You can blow a small fortune on expensive highs, end up homeless and panhandling or stealing for your next cheap high. The current public debate is too focused on what to do about street junkies and not enough on how to keep people from becoming street junkies.

The US should ban Opiates sold as simple painkillers.
Is wrong and induces people to be addicted.

Quote:
Dr. Oz Is Sorry You Were Offended by His Comment That It's Fine for 2-3% of Schoolchildren to Die
Asked by Hannity to “help us,” Oz responded: “First, we need our mojo back. Let's start with things that are really critical to the nation where we think we might be able to open without getting into a lot of trouble. I tell ya, schools are a very appetizing opportunity. I just saw a nice piece in The Lancet arguing the opening of schools may only cost us 2 to 3%, in terms of total mortality. Any, you know, any life is a life lost, but...that might be a trade-off some folks would consider.”
So he thought it was "nice" that opening schools up would "only" kill and additional 2-3% over the existing Covid mortality rate. So let's assume that's 30000 extra dead people over the 1 million USA Covid deaths.
Seems like a pretty bad deal to kill 30000 people just to rush the schools open, to me.
That guy is now running Medicare and Medicaid.

Well, in that case the expected deads are the grandparents of the children (infected by them) so we can just ask which candidate grandparents vote......you know those stubborn fools "I get never a cold, I'm too strong, patriot-grade strong!!111"
But the virus is not interested in your love for the country (but he's happy to exploit it), is interested in your body to use up as a factory and after that let it rot (oh wait, the virus is really similar to another kind of being.....).
But if grandparents are happy to be dumb (luck) martyrs go on.....
