I've seen a few social media posts blaming those who voted Green, Libertarian, etc. are at fault. The problem with that is that if all those other parties voted for Harris it wouldn't have moved the needle.
Right. Independent votes rarely, if ever, matter. Independent candidates get less than 1% of popular votes. Jill Stein got 0.5% this time, for example.
I'm referring to the other 13-15 million disaffected voters.

It is for the right, I suppose... Although I'm suspecting that if Donny showed up at a fancy department store in NYC they might shutter the building quickly.

Saw yesterday a post by a wife of a factory worker in W. Penn. Boss called all the employees in for a meeting. Told them they wouldn't be getting their Xmas bonuses this year. Management decided to spend that money to buy Japanese parts for the coming year now to avoid the tariffs that will come. Workers were generally surprised. They thought the Japanese would pay the tariffs. So it begins.... Merry Xmas!
Looks like it.

How do people still not get it that tariffs are basically a tax on domestic consumers and businesses?

For clarity, this is the final result of the presidential election...

which is a landslide victory.
Trump wins all 7 battleground states.
Trump wins the popular vote by over 4.6 million votes.
The Republicans win control of the Senate.
The Republicans win control of the House.
Good catch.
The 2,588 counties was from the 2020 election. I have updated the post to reflect the +54 counties that were gained by Trump in the 2024 election.
Regarding the number of counties won being a meaningless measure. One could say that the popular vote is meaningless as well, considering that it does not determine the election. However, what is meaningful is the concentration of votes within counties. As seen in recent elections, Democrat candidates tend to win in densely populated urban areas, while Republicans tend to win in more rural and suburban areas. The number of counties won by a candidate can provide insight into broader trends and demographics. For instance, Trump’s 2020 campaign saw significant gains in rural areas and small cities, while Biden’s campaign performed well in suburban and urban areas. The 2024 election saw shifts in voting patterns among certain demographics, including an increase in Republican support among Hispanic voters (36% in 2020, 54% in 2024). This is reflected in the population density within certain counties where Hispanics tend to populate.
Southern California is an example of this, with a high concentration of Hispanics...
