The upcoming election is clearly a topic of much interest for members, so much so we've had four separate threads discussing various candidates and events.
We certainly don't want to stop these discussions but with the multiple threads they have meandered into each other and have somewhat dominated comm chat at times.
It would be very much appreciated if this thread could be used for these discussions - at least until after the election and immediate fallout itself.
The recent threads for Biden, Harris and Trump being shot have been closed. The general Trump thread has also been temporarily closed but will be re-opened at the beginning of next month as a longer-running thread which has covered more than just the upcoming election.

Well let's get this thread inaugurated in style.
Randy Rainbow has finally just dropped his election show tune.

Is there a difference between a lawyer and a con man?

As Steven Wright puts it, 99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name.
People shit on us lawyers, but we're the ones with the memory of what we actually are as a nation and where we've been. I don't think anybody else is in the job of actually remembering what a country is and has been through in all the little details. Even historians and journalists end up mythologizing it into a thumbnail version. Lawyers have to cite where practically every proposition comes from from yesterday to 250 years ago.

After that joke of a twitter conversation with Musk the other night, I don't think Don Snoreleoni is going to make it to election day. He might make it to his September 18 sentencing in NYC, but after that, the narcissistic injury will crush him.
He'll find someone to blame and back out, he will be removed by the RNC (highly unlikely), he will retreat to his garish, gold-leaf safe place, Mar a Lago, or he will be carted off on a stretcher or in a straight-jacket, after a massive public collapse, from the weight of his ego and all his lies.
I would prefer he ride the humiliation train right up to November 4th but I just don't think he will last that long.
Betting Pool, anyone?

I was wondering whether their egos could coexist for long enough to conduct the interview. I guess so, but the result was unimpressive. Now that Biden is out of the race, Trump's own age-related decline is more evident. There's no way he's getting out of the race though. His personal stake is too high to abandon. He's got to be President again to get out of legal trouble, otherwise he may be headed to jail.

He doesn't want to get out of the race but I wonder if his junk-food stuffed body and crumbling mind will make it.
