"Desensitizing" (you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means) is not what the army is interested in. If they were truly doing that, there wouldn't be the countless cases of people returning from a warzone with myriad psychological problems. They're mostly practicing procedures and how to work in the chain of command.
Are you just pulling this out of your ass or do you have real proof that desensitizing soldiers isn't in the armies interest. It would make sense to me that in combat situations soldiers need to be able to not get distracted by violence hence perform better.
I heard the thing about video game use by them military in my Art History class while discussing video-game violence. I'm not sure how TRUE is it but it was in a college course so w/e.

I'm guessing (or hoping, anyway) Telliamed meant that desensitization wasn't the point of the simulations specifically. My understanding was that the games mainly serve as a training tool for tactical stuff. Desensitization is vital to the military, since it helps prevent soldiers from panicking or freezing up in combat situations and wears down that mental block most of us have against killing other human beings.
I had the same thing come up in an Art History class, but the prof didn't know anything about games firsthand. Nobody's completely knowledgeable about everything, especially stuff outside their field of study.
