Dia, he called me sis too. I think the women he talked to the most, he called sis. I had the pleasure to meet him and Christie a few years back when we lived in Dallas, along with Sledge at that time. Good times, he supported my business, and I have stuff of his to be fixed currently. He's a gem.

I'm sorry to hear he is so tired. I hope he can hang on but understand if he can't. It's been a long hard fight. I don't think anyone could fight harder. He gained so many good years with his boys and has gotten to be with the love of his life longer. We talked of those things when we wrote each other. Things about what was important they should learn and the sacrifices everyone was making for him. He felt guilty for what he was putting everyone through. Any man would. I tried to let him know not to. And he knows time with them was always worth all of it to them too. He knows. Sometimes you just need someone to let you tell yourself what you know.
I haven't written him in many years now. He had his hands full so I bugged others instead. I did lean on him once and he is a solid man to lean on. Funny how time slips by. I think he has done the most with his.

Saw this was posted in the Nuthaus on FB, so I assume it's OK to post here:

Another update from Christie, Dave's wife:
Update after meeting April 19th- Dave was awake all morning, taking a nap now. We talked a lot this morning and he knew I was getting ready for the meeting. He had some specific questions for the doctors. There have been a couple of immune compromised patients that have tested COVID strand positive for 5 months, and 180 days and recovered. Dave's bacteremia is gone and his labs are a little better today, he is now on 2 medications for his blood pressure instead of 3. So, with everyone's input considered, knowing that there isn't anything more to do but wait it out, Dave has decided to keep going. His main deciding factors are he has his cognitive ability back, the other infection is gone, and knowing others have made it thru this. It's only 2 others that we know of and one is in Boston, but it is a hope that he is hanging on to. The kids and I have told him we are proud of him, we love him, and we will stand by him whatever he decides and however it turns out. The doctors agree it looks better today than yesterday, but still considerably worse than 2 weeks ago, but they feel like they have a chance of getting him over this. It isn't a great chance, but it is a chance. He has been warned it will be at least a year of recovery even if he gets a little better everyday from today. Dave knows what he is signing up for, but he will wants to try. Love to all, Dave, Christie, and the kids
