I tend to close both lids on the grounds of particles of shit travelling through the air and landing on my toothbrush. That's what my mum drummed into me, anyway.
Brainwashing to a female agenda whilst young. I should sue!!!

I always demand both lids down because any time I let go of anything in a bathroom- if the seat is up, then that's where it goes. Never have any problems at all with the seats down.

Fantastic piece of slapstick earlier as I flushed the toilet at college and the flushing handle flew off only to land in and subsequently block the toilet. :erm:

I always put the seat up, always. In my experience chicks would rather put the seat down themselves than sit in piss.

I asked my girlfriend about this when I first read the thread. Her answer? "We aren't the ones who need it moved at all. You do, so it's your responsibility."
Works for me/

I'm sorry but I don't find that an acceptable argument. The only reason they believe that they don't need to move it is that they demand that males put the seat back down. If we always left the seat up then they would have to move it. So what gives them the right to demand we return the apparatus to THEIR optimum operational status?
Consider two people who drive the same car. One is tall and requires the drivers seat pushed back to accommodate their long legs. The other is short and requires the seat pushed forward so they can reach the pedals. Does either of them have the right to demand that the other must return the seat to the other position so when they get in they do not have to adjust the seat?

I suppose, though, that some of the time (say a sixth or quarter or something for argument's sake, YMMV) we ALSO need the seat down, so on balance it's most often required down, unless you live in an all-male environment in which case why would it be an issue anyway.
