Unwanted constant water walk. - by Jordana

I'm running a mod which gives me Vivec as a companion/sidekick. I have a problem with it; I once gave him a water walking ability which would make him always walk on water without casting a spell. (I used the same ability that the Ahemmusa wise woman has-where she follows you across the water to Ald Daedroth) I thought this was a good idea at first but it quickly became annoying as he now can't swim at all, so if I have to go underwater he can't follow me but just runs around frenziedly on the surface. So I deleted the ability but he still water walks automatically, all the time. Does anyone know how to get him back to normal so he can swim?
Thanks

Make a completely new plugin or use the same one you have and make a new vivec without waterwalk. When in the game, disable the old vivec and placeatpc the new one. If you make a completley new plugin then it's probably best to make a clean save and then switch between the two plugins.

he now can't swim at all
Do a coc into the Mudan Grotto enterance. If the mod has it set so that Vivec will follow you whenever you teleport, he'll be forced underwater after the coc to Mudan Grotto. If you would rather mark an area that's underwater and see if he'll recall with you, try it and see. As a last resort...
Vivec00000000 -> SetHealth 0
Vivec00000000 -> Resurrect
...and, of course, to coc to Mudan Grotto...
coc "Mudan Grotto"
...or you could just use Dracandos Voice. Personally, I fail to see the reasoning in letting that senile, arrogant, bitch / bastard follow me around while I'm doing a mercantile round, especially when I handed his ass to him right after he agreed to force House Indoril to ban slavery...

*bursts out laughing* Well, I kind of like him....he's my favourite NPC. He comes everywhere with me, and it's really livened the game up. And he's great in a fight, especially now that I've persuaded him to use a bow and arrow. Means I never have to bother with the cliif racers any more :)
Anyway, thanks for your suggestions, sappe and Exile. I'll give them a go.
What is Dracandos Voice, btw? I've heard of it before, but don't know what kind of a plugin it is.....

vivec is a creature..
dracandos voice is a mercenarymod among other things. You can hire mercenarys and slaves-and you can command people that's below you in a guild. There's other stuff too, you can ask people of there health and level and if you're Hlaalu grandmaster you can order every Hlaalu to pay taxes ;)

Your best bet is to find the name of the spell he is using, enter the game, open the console, click on Vivec (The console title should change) then enter:
RemoveSpell "Spell ID"
(Or just enter Vivec->RemoveSpell "Spell ID")

what is vivec anyway...... It says in in the final temple quest that boethieth (sp) was male...... and yet vivec states in one of his sermpns that he married boethieth..... what is up with this man-god-thing-noun... Is he gay of something? (if he is... that explians a whole lot):nono:

He does look somewhat androgynous. But I suspect that the Daedra is more likely to be the androgyne, seeing as Vivec was once a man (or mer)- or so I understand. The Dunmer religion is based on ancestor worship, the more distinguished (for want of a better word) ancestors become saints, or are worshipped as such, and some- few- become gods, like Vivec, Almalexia and Sotha Sil.
I think I have this right.

sappe: Yeah, I know Vivec technically counts as a creature....but in terms of interacting with him, he's closer to an NPC than say, a kagouti :) Also, thanks for the info. on the Dracandros Voice thingy.
Striker: thanks, actually the water walk is an Ability rather than a spell, hence the constant effect-ness of it. I deleted it in his window in the Editor, which is why I'm puzzled that he's still doing it :/
Daedra appear to be able to manifest as whichever gender they choose, although they often choose to stick to just one. Boethiah was female in Daggerfall, for example. And although Molag Bal has alway appeared as a male, he is sometimes referred to in the feminine in the in-game books.
As for Vivec, the Temple's doctrine states that the "three Good Daedra" (Azura, Mephala and Boethiah), who used to be worshipped by the Dunmer before the Tribunal existed, are in fact Anticipations of the Tribunal....sort of like their forerunners. It seems to me that this is quite clearly a load of rubbish, designed to ease the transition from Daedra worship to the Tribunal, but the point is that Mephala, who is said to be Vivec's anticipation, is androgynous. This androgyny is therefore also seen in Vivec, to a lesser extent. Again, this is just Temple propaganda, I think. The Tribunal seem to have the ability to manipulate their physical appearance to some extent (as in Vivec being half gold) so perhaps Vivec chose to appear semi-androgynous in order to lend credence to the Anticipation story.
(
http://www.m0use.net/~xanathar/mwbooks/anticipations.shtml) This book explains the Anticipations.
The old Dunmeri religion (replaced by the Tribunal, although still stubbornly practised by the Ashlanders) was based entirely on ancestor worship; the Daedra were seen as the ultimate ancestor spirits (oldest and most powerful). The Dunmer, or Chimer as they were then called, split off from the High Elven race due to their insistence on Daedra worship, which was unacceptable to the High Elves. In fact, the original meaning of the Elvish word Daedra was "not our ancestors" in contrast to Aedra "our ancestors".
A somewhat diluted form of the original Dunmer/Chimer preoccupation with their ancestors remained a part of the Tribunal religion....this is the reason why Dunmer temples and tombs have all those sand pits with bones in them..see the books (
http://www.m0use.net/~xanathar/mwbooks/ancestor.shtml) Ancestors and the Dunmer for more info.
After the events of the game, it looks as though Daedra worship could be poised for a big comeback..........
