Very cool! I'm not necessarily a fan of the 3D models in combination with the blocky architecture and the pixely textures, but that's a matter of taste: on the whole I think it's great that there's a new, good way of playing Ultima Underworld (which, sadly, I never finished at the time).
I think you've already commented that you won't be doing a Unity Underground II (for Ultima Underworld II). Might you consider sharing your code with others who'd be willing to do a version for the sequel, or is this unlikely?

That's right, it would take too long and I don't have the necessary models/animations.

I'm considering it. The main problem is that I don't have the rights to share some of the assets - some of the sounds and particle effects are from the asset store. So it would have to be mostly, or fully, asset free.

Do we know when or if mouse and keyboard support will be added?
I only ask as in another post it said controller only.

Mouse and keyboard support is in progress. I wouldn't expect anything for a couple of weeks, as the mouse controls are quite different to the gamepad controls. I'm aiming for something close to the original game.

Yeah, the 3D models look like some plastic toys, a bit too polished and too clean. Maybe there could be a way to make them look a bit more pixelated as well, so that they don't stand out so much? :) In any case, this is some impressive stuff! Keep up the good work!

That is great news can't wait. Look forward to that update.

It's amazing SteppyGraph.
I feel that the objects would look more at home with the environments if the wall/floor textures were updated as well.

It's a tricky one, because the architecture/level design is very blocky and archaic. Personally, I'm rarely a fan of texture mods that put a lot of detail on very lo-fi architecture; at that point I prefer it if the aesthetic remains lo-fi but adds other kinds of bells and whistles, e.g. better lighting. But it's obviously a matter of taste.

Fair point, I can see how this might make the fidelity contrast worse. A happy medium perhaps might involve a slight upgrade to the environmental textures and some "noise" added to the model and object textures to make the contrast less jarring. Just a thought
