As in Outlaw Star (I guess I missed that episode...), it's when they go to the bathhouse. You only see the the kid, but Kamina's probably the more disturbing image, with Boota hanging off his junk.

Oh, that...I didn't really count that since you don't actually see any genitalia. And I actually thought that was a pretty funny picture. I do feel sorry for Boota, but still...

Gurren Lagann does come up with interesting characters - such as the gay mechanic - certainly haven't seen anything like that in a cartoon.
Much was made of the men being hungry, with that stomach-gurgling noise and fight over meat shaped clouds. I have to say it was a bit of a surprise when boota ripped his tail off to feed them during a battle, but I'm enjoying watching something different.
I sampled a bit of Champloo, which looks promising from the first episode. Never seen the idea of editing an episode as if it was being scratched by a DJ. On paper these things sound a bit daft but it seems to work.
Incidentally, I've never been keen on referring to male members as "junk". It may not be the most attractive part of a man's body, but still...

Leeron certainly is one of a kind. I love the little wave-thing he does with his hand-it cracks me up every time. :D

Eh. It's just a figure of speech.

Well, my 4 DVD set of "Roughnecks, the Starship Troopers Chronicles" arrived this week end.
778 minutes of "Kill them BUGS". Much fun. So far, I'm 4 episodes along. Not to mention I've a few hours of "Extras" to view later.

I'll put all this into a list, but the amount of stuff available is a bit overwhelming.
* Gurren Lagann
* Haruhi Suzumiya
* Outlaw Star
* Black Lagoon
* Ghost in the Shell
* Naruto
* Escaflowne
* Paranoia Agent
* Samurai Champloo
* Paprika
*
Last Exile* Metropolis
Will have to finish that off later and get back to work now...
You need to bump the bolded selection to the top of your list like post haste right now.
I'm not a super huge fan of anime. This isn't a look at me all being different because I'm olol too cool to watch jap cartoons type situation. It's just that out of every 10 I've tried to watch, only one or two have been worth half a damn to me. And of all ones I enjoyed, Last Exile struck me in a way most of the others didn't. There was just something undefinable grand about it that's usually lacking in most other anime shows I've seen. I can't recommend it enough.
Also I kinda like Fullmetal Alchemist for some weird ass reason. Specially the new series, which isn't nearly as teen angst whiny as it was before.

Then you probably won't like (

I haven't been to Hulu much lately, but I was rather surprised on my recent visit to see that there are several anime shows on it now. Personally I think it's kickass that Galaxy Railways and The Fist of The North Star are on it, especially the latter, complete with its over-the-top gory violence and the original Japanese soundtrack.

So does (

What, no mention of Gunslinger Girl? For shame.
For a few old standby full-length feature films, I would recommend Akira (which is somewhat cyberpunk), Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (which is largely post-apocalyptic, except the apocalypse was easily several thousand years beforehand), and Jin-Roh, a military/sci-fi drama set in an alternate 1960s universe Japan where the US never joins in WW1 OR 2, Stauffenberg successfully assassinates Hitler and Germany occupies Japan, subsequently and almost immediately thrusting the latter country into chaos for years. Jin-Roh is pretty fucking depressing at times, and rather understated for an anime in that there is very little that's over-the-top, feeling more like a live-action drama. Even the shootouts. And it's by Production I.G.
Seconded on NGE, but as has been mentioned before, be warned. The series is basically about a crazy animation director working out his mommy issues through Christian symbolism. That's not even a joke. Pretty much everyone in that series needs at least some therapy. Especially Shinji, Christ that kid practically needs a seizure helmet and waterwings to wear to bed. Make sure you pick up End of Evangelion, though, 'cuz otherwise you're going to be sorely disappointed at the TV ending.
And I may be the only person who hated the fuck out of the first Ghost in the Zzzzz movie and it pretty much soured me on watching anything remotely related to it.
