I haven't seen any mention of the progress of Underworld Adventures for quite some time. The last update on the site occurred in April. I hope that this doesn't mean that another Underworld remake has bitten the dust.
Has anyone seen Vividos lately?

I peek at their IRC logs on occassion, it looks like they are still working on it.

Hi twisty,
of course the project is still alive! It's almost the only thing I'm working on when I'm turning on my computer, besides email reading :-) The reason why there's no new release since april is that I'm doing some code restructuring and some parts of Underworld Adventures have to be rewritten for that. Until the project has everything it had in the last release, it takes some time still. I hope to release a new version next year, though. Maybe with some critters running around? :-)
Happy X-Mas to all forum readers!
bye

Cool. Keep up the good work.

Good to hear, vividos!
Happy holidays to you too. Don't work too hard... but best wishes for a speedy development of the next version :)

As a huge fan of the ultima underworld series, can you tell me in what way the project will be better than just playing ultima underworld on an old computer.
O.k the graphics might be better, but won't it just be like the game we all played and loved some 10 years ago.

I think you'll find that's the whole point.

I agree shadowcat, but then why not just play the old version, which I still have in a shrine amongst my collection?
In other words what features does it have that will make it worth purchasing?

Uh, you seem to have misunderstood the project's purpose. You won't have to pay money to play it.

The big three that spring to mind are:
(a) high-res display, without texture warping.
(b) customisable input w/mouse-look option.
(c) high-speed (or was it just Athlon?) CPUs will not cause frustrating problems with sideways and backwards movement.
and of course, although not an initial priority as I understand it, there is definite potential for later enhancements in other areas...
As was mentioned, you will be able to freely download Underworld Adventures to get these things. This is a freeware application being made by one Underworld fans for other Underworld fans.
