does anyone know if the unarmored skill and heavy armor (or any armor) conflict with eachother if both are chosen in the major and minor skills? If so, wats the penalty?

Well, if you wear different types of armorpieces the progress of your armor skills will be devided over those types. But that doesn't have anything to do with them being major, minor or misc.

Each skill will be used to determine the armour value from each section of your armour (or body). For example, if you're wearing a steel helm and a steel cuirass, and no other armour, your heavy armour skill will determine the protection offered by the steel (about 50% of your total armour rating) whilst the unarmoured skill will determine the protection from the other 50%. Both skills will improve as enemies hit you, in rough proportion to the amount of each armour type you're wearing (at roughly equal speeds in the case above).
At the risk of hijacking the thread - has anyone tried a character with pure Unarmoured skill? How does it compare with the top armours of the Heavy, Medium and Light classes at their highest skill levels?
[edit] Quick work BattleMage.
A few more points: the only penalty for major/minor/misc. levels will be that the two will improve at different rates, as all other skills do. In my example above, if you had a major in Heavy Armour and a Miscellaneous in Unarmoured, your Heavy Armour skill would improve much faster as you get liberal beatings rained upon you.

You can't go into melee battle unarmored, not even with maxed skill and attributes (well, not with an equal opponent I mean, you won't have problems with a simple rat). It will keep you alive a bit longer if you are careless enough to come in range of a melee weapon, that's all. :)
(so it's pretty usefull for a wizard, saves a lot of weight :))

i have a monk that i got to about level nine runningaround just killing rats or so... my unarmored is like 42 and i can down a NPC about my level with my monk easily without getting too hurt... i can even take out guards with him... although the guards do hit a little hard.. but then again.. it depends on your stats to tell how well you will do with certain things...

i have maxed unarmored, with 389 speed. (blinding boots, some constant effect stuff i made) and ist worthless. i dodge, maybe 5-10% of attacks. I soon got sick of this, and maxed out every armor skill i haev, and now i just wear a mishmash of enchanted crap, and it works out cause of the armor skills being even.
