reinstalling and repatching is always a good start.

Hello fellow taffers
Same problem for me, on Windows 10. Clean install of the game in version 1.18 -> the New Dark version 1.23 and nothing works, nor by the *exe file, or by FmSel. PC is freezing, have a black screen and must use system manager to return to desktop. Interesting thing, in the old installation of Dromed, the game runs smooth, but only through the "Thief2.exe", but it will not work at all from FmSel :(
I've got installed all necessary libraries like C++2008, OpenAL, and DX Jun2010.
Any suggestions?
Today, I give a try TP.

It was working fine for me (latest NewDark) in the Win10 Preview releases right up until build 10240, the final "gold" release, then it broke - FMSel would work, but not the game itself.
I switched back to Win7 for now for that and a few other minor issues, like the Oculus SDK not being compatible. Figured I'd try it again in a few weeks.

First I upgraded to Win10 from Win7 and my existing installs of TG and T2 on my system/C: drive (it's a faster SSD) ran fine. Next I did a clean Win10 install (formatted C) after copying both game folders to my slower data/D: drive, then copied them back over afterwards and again they ran fine. Since then I did a fresh TG install when the latest TFix came out, also with no problems so Win10 for me is Thief compatible.
The one less-than-desirable change I've noticed is a longish delay (dark/blank screen for ~3 seconds) when starting or quitting or alt-tabbing, which under Win7 or XP was only a second or less. Have others noticed this?

It was working okay when I first started. That is one of the first things I checked. I loaded a mission using FMsel and it loaded fine. I quit and did some other things just checking out the lay out. I found I didn't like the W-10 lay out but I could probably get used to it. I had some problems with a real estate website that didn't respond to button clicks doing . It could have been the web site. I eventually went back to Windows 7 figuring I could always go back to W10 latter. Now I am finding problems with Windows 7. Now Darkloader opens and loads the last mission I played. The Thief2 Icon is missing and there was no way to re-install it. I finally found the C:\directory and found the Thief exe. Clicked it and it started and loaded the last mission I played but not the Original Thief 2. It is the same with After looking my entire filing system is screwed beyond figuring it out. It looks like I will have to reload from a backup drive. Now Windows 7 doesn't recognize my hard drive backup and won't reinstall. So much for being able to go back to Windows 7.

well, you are early adopters, you should have seen it coming.
anyway, making sure a full gpu driver is installed (and not just some MS stub) would be a good idea as well.

i was made with DriveImage XML a raw copy of my Win 7 Ultimate partition to a new disc, upgrade it to Win 10 Pro,
all installed software like Office 2007 and Thief 1 & 2 and Thief (4/Reloaded) works fine. Dont ever upgrade your original system, always use a copy.

Yes Thief runs on Windows 10, I got them to ASUS, but I have two video cards, one is integrated on the board, and the other can be removed. The notebook is about half a year old and it was windows 8.1
When reinstalling Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 I did not install, no codecs etc.
