I liked the shaky cam in cloverfield. Sorry.

Damn youuuu! >_>
I'd also like to add that I'd probably call this Exploration Horror rather than Survival Horror... if that makes dethtoll feel any better.

If by "this" you mean Routine, of course it's survival horror. You know, on account of the player failing to do so at the conclusion of the video.

Well I think that depends on your goal. Are you trying to escape and thus survive, or are you trying to find out what went wrong and thus explore? It's probably both, but I will be playing this more to explore, so that's what I'm gonna call it.

That's absurd hair-splitting. Survival horror games always have a heavy exploration element-- it prevents the "survive" moments from becoming monotonous, and provides a canvas on which to layer the "horror" elements. Exploration is the fundamental substrate of survival horror.
Calling a survival horror game "exploration horror" thus makes about as much sense as calling a first-person shooter game a "first-person walker".

Why don't we just call it a goddamn interesting looking game and be done with it?
Pyrian on 27/6/2013 at 23:11
For some people, arguing semantics is a feature, not a bug.
Renzatic on 27/6/2013 at 23:22
It's not Survival Horror, it's Dubstep Surhorcore. DO I HAVE TO SHOW YOU THE FLOW CHARTS AND PIE GRAPHS TO PROVE IT?
Vivian on 27/6/2013 at 23:27
I'm with Renz on this. Genres are only useful to the point they are self-evidently descriptive. Arguing over genre definitions is weeny.

I don't know why you're trying to argue with me about this. There's a reason I said "
I'd probably call this Exploration Horror" and "Well I think that depends on
your goal." and "so that's what
I'm gonna call it." It's a personal opinion and each person makes what they want of it. Of course every survival horror game has exploration elements, that's also why I said "
It's probably both." I feel like you're just arguing to argue at this point.
