Looks like Doom 3 tech with those screens? Interesting anyway!

Wow.
Everyone wants in on it, eh? BioShock, Dead Space and now this? From the small amount I've seen (and I missed this at Rezzed on the weekend, how?) I'd go with the SS3 tag, yeah.

Checking inventory and notes on static wall monitors was SEXY.

This is the kind of retro-future moon-base thing they previewed in RPS a while back? Looks SICK! The movement actually looks really good as well, am I too used to seeing gamepad demos for FP games? But yeah, this looks wicked!
ALSO A LASER GUN THAT GOES PHWOOOM OH GOD YES

Oh man that looks amazing. Perma-death though? Games that work well with perma death also usually have procedurally generated levels, because, y'know, replaying the same levels over and over while trying to beat the game once gets boring eventually. Not sure if it's a good fit here.

More like SS1.5, since it does away with some of the "improvements" of SS2. Anyway, everyone's calling it a Amnesia - Dead Space hybrid, shows how much they know about the real lineage.
Also, perma-death probably means that there's a narrative element to dying and retrying, like System Shock's QBRMs/regeneration chambers. Which is good.

No health packs either. I'm assuming they have the game broken down into smaller, mission sized pieces, or the permadeath thing would get old real fast.

Yeah, it's got to be a checkpoint system, or maybe you have to find some kind of medical station to save/heal or something. The latter is what I would do.
