Boolean search has not been removed, it has been promoted to the default option.

Now it's buggered again, for me at least.
The same search for Calendra's Legacy now turns up either Calendra's OR Legacy, as evidenced by the Search: Key Word(s): calendra's OR legacy at the top of the search results. Who keeps changing these things?

Well, I thought the very same thing yesterday when I was searching for water rotation stuff. I think I entered something like...
(water or flow) and rotation and (error or fault or problem or flaw or bug)
and got (still get) about 500 results ranging from broadheads to cog wheels. I can see how cogs might include rotation and indeed 'fault' and I guess might mention water (arrows) so I assumed my keywords just weren't distinctive enough and gave up.
BTW are the keywords supposed to referr to a posting or a thread? The other weakness with searching is when you get a long thread. I've seen with up to 800 posts. There is no internal search of a thread. I think these long threads are pretty useless for later research which is why I (mostly) dislike overlong stickies.

Not even behind that "Search This Thread" link at the top of every thread?

Hit Deity, sort by relevancy and put your search phrase in quotes as "calendra's legacy".
I shall have a look as to why it considers a post with Legacy more relevant with a post with Calendra's Legacy in it.
Fidcal, consider showing posts rather than threads as a search result.

How did I miss that! :) Thanks GM
David: Thanks too. Never noticed that either. Too busy. Gotta go.
BTW I received TWO email notifications for this both saying you won't get another one till you visit the site. MMmmm... I've noticed this more and more recently. Let's assume that since I've been stupid twice maybe I did visit again before actually downloading the first email. But just thought I'd mention it in case the thing is bust.

OK, I should have been more clear.
A lot of times I might want to find a thread that I remember containing specific words, but don't remember a certain set combination of words. If I remember a relevant topic as containing 'game', 'mode', and 'backup', then I get any and ALL threads containing
game OR mode OR backup. These search parameters turned up 500 threads and took 37 seconds to complete!!
Putting the above search parameters in
luckily pulls up a relevant thread in this instance, but only because one of the replies had those words in that order with spaces in between them. It didn't find this (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58409) post, which is also very relevant.
So, I'm still not seeing how I can search for ALL words listed as in
game AND mode AND backup. This type of search turns up hundreds of unrelated threads.
What am I missing?

I see
Search Entire Posts or
Search Titles Only, and
Show Results as Threads or
Posts.
Where do you see Search by Posts?!?!
Quote Posted by Fidcal
Then I searched by post and...
And I still get 500+ results that don't have ALL 3 terms in them when I "Search Entire Posts" and 133 results when I "Search Titles Only".

I did a
thread search using three forms...
HOW are you doing a
thread search? I see "Show Results as Threads...", but no way to do a "thread search".
Maybe I'm on a different forum, or maybe Firefox doesn't support "thread searches". Mayble I'm on the wrong planet...where
is my planet; I just had it...
Sorry. Still confused...

You're right - I didn't read it properly. It does say 'show results by'. So I wonder what it would show if one searched for 'grapefruit' and it occurred once in one post in a 3-post thread and then you show results by post. Would it show all three posts or exclude the ones where 'grapefruit' did not occur? Which would be as good as a post search. Must do a test...
Mmmm... Seems you still go to the start of the thread and then need to do a thread search. My test was inconclusive as I ran out of time.
The thread search is not on the search page which is why I missed it before. For the thread search you have to show the particular thread you want and then its got a 'search this thread' box at bottom right and a link to it at top right on the same line as the subject heading I think.
