umm, I lost my Sunder... [spoilers] - by sangredeltoro

[1st post for me, btw...]
OK,
1) I'm playing XBox version so I know there are limitations
2) It's not the GOTY edition, so if there are updates w/ that ver. that could help, then let me know!
I've been playing ES III for a few months and have only recently really went ahead with the Main Quest [previously just roaming, levelling up and causing chaos with creatures and such]. I'm named Hortator, Neverine and master of various guilds. Spoke with Vivec and got Keening, Wraithguard and am ready to kick Dagoth Ur's butt.
However: sometime during my earlier days of roaming, I believe I came across the necessary Sunder, and subsequently either dropped it or sold it before realizing it was an essential part of the Main Quest.
Eh, what now?
According to the official ES III guide, there's a safety catch, but for some reason, Archdecon Saryoni doesn't do what he's supposed to do.
Oh, should I mention I've been expelled from the Temple? [from my wilder days].
So, any tips? Or do I have to search the countryside for the one lone Sunder? Or wipe out three months of gaming and restart >sniff<?
Many thanks

uuhmmm... i think ull have a problem finding keening.. cuz as far as ive heard xbox version doesnt have console included, does it?
the only advice i can give u is (im rly not sure, but its worth a try) search 4 the merchant whom ud have sold keening, though i think they restock... if he hasnt ure lucky and u can buy it. if he HAS, then ure in a bad situation:erm:
-Newbie
EDIT: i meant of course sunder, im just a little tired =_= , so replace "keening" by "sunder" and the post is correct :]

There's a back path method of completing the game, if you happened to mess up. If you can't find Sunder, go ahead and try it out. Unfortunately, I'm about to leave so just search this forum. It should be fairly easy to find... I remember typing it all out, though I think that might still be in the general forum.
Oh! And if you sold it (doubtful, it's worth a lot of money), the merchant will always keep it until you by it back or pry it from his cold, dead hands.

Thanks Newbie and RyushiBlade.
I do have Keening and I've already searched all the merchants and have still not found Sunder, so it's probably in a tomb, temple, Dwaemer Ruin or 6th House base...as far as I can figure it. Still, I've already searched through many of these to no avail. [I've also double checked the original location of Sunder and there's no trace of the item.] I've got about 6 more sites to go, though, so who knows?
RyushiBlade:
The back-door method has 2 parts: Guard Rail type and alternate means to getting Wraithguard. Since I already have Wraithguard, I've been hoping for the Guard Rail type to kick in.
I'm level 35, with 66 Reputation. When any of the characters listed tell me to talk to Archdeacon Saryoni, when I go back to Saryoni he doesn't tell me anythng new. Vivec himself seems to be oblivious to my not completing the quest.
So, I remain stumped and am afraid that I'll have to create a new character and start from scratch.
I'll keep trying for a little while longer. If I come up with anything, I'll be sure to post it here.
If you have any other bits of advice, tho, I'm all ears!
cheers,

The "back door" seems to be just an alternatve means of getting wraithguard if you kill someone important to the main quest... you still need Sunder and Keening for the finale stages.

... Shut up -.-' I was in a hurry.
Ok! So you need Sunder in order to beat the game, so the backpath method can't really help. So you're screwed. Sorry ^.^ You definitely have to find Sunder.

When you're right, that means I'm wrong...
But yes, all signs have pointed to me being totally screwed. So, I restarted, created a new character and have started from scratch ... my Lvl 37 Spellsword is now archived and in his place is now a Lvl14 Knight.
Many thanks for the input...
...and now, I gotta find some answers to my GOTY freezing problems... if it ain't one thing, it's a lot of things!
- Cheers!
