I played this game years ago and have decided to play once more. However, I've got myself stuck. I've defeated the "monster" in the dwarven mine on level 2 and there's all that gold in the walls. How do I get it out, if I do? I tried using the rock hammer, but nothing happens. I remember something about a large gold nugget - is this where I get it? Please help. Thanks.

Sorry to say there's no way to mine the gold. Guess you'll have to leave the backbreaking labor to Hewstone ;). Don't worry about the giant nugget. It's pretty cool but it's not essential.

Yeah, that giant nugget really isn't essential, I think you got it from certain, lonely blue robed wizard near a shrine. The one that gives you the blue mineral quest, can't remember what he called that stuff. But it was on lvl 5 if I'm correct.
Giving that nugget to Goldthirst doesn't really give grand awards, but what else are you gonna do with it ;)
