Einstein wants an argument with you Nicker.
Any particular point?
That said, does individual consciousness persist after the death of the physical body? - Not bloody likely. So are you sure it's actually Albert?

If you're even asking that question, there's not much to say. Sheesh.

Sheesh? How about WHOOOSH!!
It was a joke about the ghost of Albert Einstein picking a fight with me. A joke you set up.
Sheesh indeed.

I mean if multiverse theory is true then it does. I'd bet on it.
Actually on that note I think there's a better chance we get a signal from an "alien species" that evolved on a parallel universe earth than one in our universe from 100,000 light years away.

(
https://abcnews.go.com/Technology/Primetime/story?id=528724&page=1) We've come a long way since Einstein
Quote:
Einstein may have said nothing can go faster than the speed of light, but he also left a loophole, said Kaku, a professor at the City University of New York. In Einstein's theory, space and time is a fabric.
Kaku explained: "In school we learned that a straight line is the shortest distance between two points. But actually that's not true. You see, if you fold the sheet of paper and punch a hole through it, you begin to realize that a wormhole is the shortest distance between two points."
A civilization that could harness the power of stars might be able to use that shortcut through space and time, and perhaps bridge the vast distances of space to reach Earth, he said.
"The fundamental mistake people make when thinking about extraterrestrial intelligence is to assume that they're just like us except a few hundred years more advanced. I say open your mind, open your consciousness to the possibility that they are a million years ahead," he said.
Kaku believes that only this type of civilization -- millions of years more advanced that us and capable of using wormholes as shortcuts -- could reach Earth and might be one explanation for UFOs.

Science fiction has come a long way since Einstein.
The wormhole is one valid solution to the field equations, but that doesn't mean that the space-time we exist in is curved back on itself like that. We've measured the curvature of our space-time with the WMAP space telescope and it is flat or very close to it. So if something happened after the big bang to curve space time back on itself and create a wormhole, it's likely outside the part of the universe we can observe. And supposing they do exist in our observable universe, but we just haven't found one yet, one thing we can say for certain is that there are none conveniently located close enough for us to use for space travel. Which also means there's no way for a distant race to reach us. So their existence really is a moot point outside of science fiction.
I don't like Kaku anymore. He's drifted too far from science into futurism and sci-fi. He's still talking about falling through black holes into parallel universes, because it's a popular fantasy that just won't go away. I think he's leading people astray more than he is teaching science at this point.

Look, for aliens to visit us through wormholes (provided they even know we're around, cf. the (
https://www.popularmechanics.com/space/news/a27934/galaxy-map-human-radio-broadcasts/) ridiculously tiny 200 light-year radius for the farthest our transmissions have reached so far), all they need to do is fold space-time on itself using a humanly unimaginable amount of energy (and some exotic matter or not, depending on whether you subscribe to brane theory). Is that impossible according to relativity? No. Is it improbable? Very much.
Please spend your energy on studying the universe and finding out more about it if it interests you, instead of conjuring up conspiracy theorist versions of Russell's teapots all over the place.
Pyrian on 31/7/2023 at 17:07
There really aren't many plausible ways for a wormhole to form, be stable, and be traversable (sans spaghettification or substantial time dilation). ...Nevermind being intentionally constructed...

Sorry, I really missed the joke entirely.
My patience for alien speculation is maybe too short to be posting in this thread.
I guess my point is that if you allow for the possibility that future technology will overcome fundamental laws of physics, then you have left science for science-fiction. Aliens are highly likely somewhere, but our ability to reach them is limited by physics to our nearby neighborhood. And so is their ability to reach us.

If anything at least, I'm ready to bet an alien species somewhere at sometime has had / is having / and/or will have this same discussion we are. That's something.
