Every time I hear a U2 song, I want to run, I want to hide.

Personally, anyone who's produced great numbers when they were younger are permitted to grow old disgracefully in my books. I've got better things to do than get all hot and bothered about Bono getting all embarrassing. It's not as if it isn't extremely easy to switch to another channel or otherwise ignore the old git.

I was listening to Rattle and Hum just the other day.

They're still here, they've made a magical transformation from epic dad-rocking bollock-balladry to... um, more of the same, but with LED's strapped all over the place, and it is scientifically impossible for them to be observed with a non-revolving camera. To be honest, they annoy me enough to talk about them, especially all of this 'phoosh yeah, they haven't done anything good for AGES' talk: U2 HAVE NEVER BEEN GOOD. They've used the same phased tremolo mono-chord guitar lick, William Gibson by-way-of Clive Cussler lyrics and cliff-top masturbation chorus for pretty much every single one of their songs. They made INXS look interesting, for gods sake.

Now that's just fucking stupid. Please tell me who's good in your book so I decide if you have any credibility whatsoever.
That aside, I can't believe the anti-U2 barrage, what, are they the first band who started out great but in their later years were just average? How many bands exist at that "great" level for 20+ years? I can't think of many.

The Unforgettable Fire is still a great album. Bleak as fuck.
