This is a great game, but there are little bugs that can make it frustrating to play. Here are my problems, if anybody can help I'd be very thankful:
1/ In the City of Arx I can't find the Gem Dealer to sell all the gems I bought. I saw him once the first time I arrived in Arx (after the prison escape) in his shop but I didn't have anything to sell. He just told me about the Troll strike. Every time I've gone back since his store is locked. I now have about 20 gems and they're completely useless to me.
2/ In the walkthrough the author mentions a key ring that can be got from the woman shopkeeper in Arx. I have been in her shop many times but none of the chests have anything like a key ring. I tried talking to her and she always says the same thing. I now have ten rings taking up all the space in my inventory. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure you have the latest patch 1.17 installed. Please note that there is real time in Arx...day and night time. You may be showing upto the gem dealers at night when he is at home. As for the key ring it should be in one of the chests. If all else fails there should be another key ring in the level below the underground lake level. It is in a chest at the trading post there if I remember correctly. I hope this helps.

Thanks.
I have managed to get the gems sold. I had to wait until I finished the Troll Quest. I wanted to sell them before I told the King so I would get higher prices but it isn't possible. At least I got some money...
For the second question, the key ring, it isn't in the shop anywhere and I think I have 1.17 installed. I'll now see if I can find it in the underground lake...
"Please note that there is real time in Arx...day and night time. You may be showing upto the gem dealers at night when he is at home."
How can I tell when it's day time and when its the night?

How to tell time is a good question, I have to admit that as bad as it sounds I do not have an answer. I only realized it when like you I noticed businesses were closed at certain times and people were in there homes instead of at work. I would come back later in the quest or after a going to another level briefly and they would be back to norm. If you figure it out let me know. If anyone else knows please post.

Thanks for the reply. I still can't find the key ring...
I have found a spare sack so my inventory problems are resolved - for now.
One other question: is there a limited amount of food in the game world? I have already 'wasted' a lot of time not advancing the quest and go through my food amazingly fast. I realised I might not find any more rats, chickens or pigs to kill...

I am not sure about that one. But there should be more than enough. When you get the hungry message, just eat one thing. No matter what it is, eating 1 item is enough to satisfy you. The only way to use too much is if you use it to gain health a lot.

That's interesting to know. I eat about three or four pieces at a time currently. If I only eat one I seem to get another "hungry message" almost straight away. So food was running out fast.
I'll see if I can use less.

I always collected bread, and ate either a half piece or a whole one and never got the message again after eating one. Wierd, maybe you found something new or a bug.
