People who are attracted to this stuff crave the danger and excitement because they don't have any in real life - but demons, exorcism, and the like are okay because they're "battling the darkness" as it were. The irony is that Larson's books are chock full of bizarre (and non-existent) Satanic rituals that are more violent and pornographic than anything they'd be exposed to in all the "sinful" mainstream entertainment they're trying so hard to avoid. I specifically remember one account of a teenage girl being sewn up in the belly of a dead cow and "birthed" by pulling her out of its anus. Then of course, the coven members all raped her violently and masturbated on each other. Guess his fans file this under "knowing your enemy" and go around praying for folks who look like they've been pulled through a cow anus. Or something.

What used to be funny was listening to Larson's radio show where he'd interview guys from "Black" metal bands (of the Deicide/Cannibal Corpse variety not the Living Color/Fishbone variety) and they'd just fuck with his head. He was completely oblivious that they were taking the piss, but he'd get all these frantic emotional calls from the Christians listeners telling him how brave he was for having those guys in the studio with him because they seemed really dangerous. :rolleyes:
