Tonight, I bring to you the topic of theatrical exorcists, people who perform public exorcisms on stage. This should be a fun topic, since its somebody we can all agree to hate.
First off, a video that serves as a "shock introduction" to the topic of exorcists. This is a video of the largest (and richest) exorcist, Bob Larson.

Although the most obvious way to achieve this would be plants, one study of him found that this is generally not the case. However, they did find that Larson uses a suggestive techniques similar to those used by stage hypnotists to get a desired reaction. He also chooses audience members who, based on their verbal and nonverbal indicators, seem to be suggestible enough to go along with his show. Part of why it works is simply the people who come: they often believe that they need to be exorcised by him as well, which means that they are going to be very vulnerable to Larson's tactics.

What I don't get is the presence of the audience. I mean, if you really believe in the demon (as the audience presumably does,) isn't this serious shit that shouldn't be viewed as entertainment?
