Two different games, but similar music. (POSSIBLE SPOILERS) - by Cloud Strife

Someone at planet Deus Ex forums pointed out that the game kill.switch (Namco's hide-behind-everthing-shooter) and Deus Ex (Ion's godlike game) both have about the same music. You guys know every time you enter NY for a new reason in DX, the music in Hells Kitchen changes, well the songs are similar when you enter Hells Kitchen to talk to Harley Filben (I think thats his name) and he tells you that guy Joe Greene is a spy for UNATCO. Or In other words, its when your main objective is to meet Stanton Dowd from the Illuminati. I have found a free host, when you click the site scroll down, and it should say something like free or premium. Just click free, and on the next page scroll down, and you should see a timer before the download starts, never been over 30 secs to start for me. The songs both sound a like for only about 10 seconds. You have to listen to the kill.switch song first, the whole thing, and then the Deus Ex one (you don't really have to listen to the whole thing because the similarity is at the begining for the Deus Ex song). Both of these songs are free as the Deus Ex song came from the game its self (had to do a little file conversion, but it came from the game, and the kill.switch song is available free from Kevin Manthei website (google it or something), the artist for kill.switch's music.)
I want the Deus Ex fans at the TTLG Forums to listen and I have it ready to download. Enjoy, leave comments here, and why both songs sound similar, because I have no clue.

No way man they're way off. There's no ambient noise in the kill.switch track.

Well, to me, it seems like Kevin Manthei either made both songs, or either he blatantly ripped off Deus Ex's music. The notes are ALMOST the same, the rythm is the same, the sound is almost the same, the "pseudo-techno" is there also...

Im going for he ripped off Deus Ex music.

I was thinking, "these are nothing alike", then about a minute through I leapt away from my PC in terror.
Definite rip-off. That's not coincidence and too similar to be explained as "inspired by" DX music.

I remember noticing that when I was playing KillSwitch. Just that it sounded very DXy. Like it was made by the same artist or something.
It's not uncommon to sample the music from someone else.

The guy that did the original song from DX is Reeves Gabrels, whom I believe played with Frank Zappa and David Bowie in the past. He did all the club songs if I recall correctly.

I thought it was Alexander Brandon or something...
EDIT : OK you're right, both did some songs. Apparently, Gabrels did the main songs.

I didn't know that. I picked up a copy of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004YWZK/ref=pd_sim_music_1/103-8380075-0042265?v=glance&s=music&n=507846">this</a> for $1 at a music sale a few years ago. I'll have to listen to it again, I guess.
