on topic, I spoke to Richersounds and find out the reason its cheap is because its last years model. This will mean its may have to been an online purchase if you cant find one in a local store.
If the weather is ok tomoz, Im gonna pop into my local RS's and hook my laptop to a few TV's that are in the same price range as the SS -
- £400-600 price range - (

The SS is a good TV but for £500 its should be better -
* off angle image degradation, this happens on even small angles, as in 30 degree's or less its to my eye very noticeable.
* at native res of 1080p there is something funky was going on with the image from a PC (see comparison shots from TV and my 20" pc monitor). It looks like a image scaling issue, but this monitor is supposed to be a 1080p panel...?!
* no rear mounting holes (that I could see) for a wall mounting bracket, the stand looks awful.
* I wasn't able to fully test the black level perf, as the room wasn't dark enough.

So played with a Panasonic TX47AS650B(47") down RicherSounds and a Phillips PFL9664H/42(42") round a mates house -
* The Panasonic was a tad better than the Samsung and the Phillips a smidgen better again.
* But both the Panasonic and the Phillips suffered from the same off-axis image degradation.
* And it seems even all LCD TVs in including top end units suffer from this issue, as I got to test a £3k Panasonic while at RicherSounds.
* The font's were a bit sharper on the Panasonic/Phillips, both of which were better than the Samsung.

Looks like some places are still selling Plasma's, so...
Checked out John-Lewis who are selling an (
http://www.johnlewis.com/lg-50pb660v-plasma-hd-1080p-smart-tv-50-with-freeview-hd/p1479092) LG 50PB660v. I tried finding a local store that had one, but nearest was a 2 hr round trip. So then had a look for online reviews, but the only ones I found were the typical consumer type BS type, so as JL have a 28 day no quibble (return it if you don't like) free delivery and collection service I am gonna order said Plasma and test it at home in a controlled environment.
The LG will be arriving on or before the 13th, so you may want to hold off buying anything untill after I have had a look at this one.

So, I tested a £2k LG OLED TV yesterday evening and well I got mixed results. The blacks are pitch black and gorgeous, the colours when setup correctly are vibrant and vivid, the off angle viewing is out of this world(viewable right of the edge of the panel), but the fly in the ointment was the sharpness of the image when fed from a computer source (which is just as bad as the Samsung 48" H6400, see attached images.) The images are over saturated because the OLEDs are just so damn bright, and that was with set at 20% brightness!!!

I took a risk and bought a 40inch jvc led smart tv for £250 from pcworld (jvc lt40c750).Personally am very happy with it.Here are some pics:D
Ok can i not attach pics from my computer ? do i have to upload them onto a site ?

Yes - ability to attach images is a donation perk as it takes up space on the server. Use something like photobucket and you can embed the pictures into a post.

So I have been testing the plasma for over a week now and I am mostly pleased with the set, but are two issue's which bug me Blacks & Whilte's on a full black/white screen. The blacks get brightened and whites darkened, but on mixed content the set works as advertised.
I have logged a call with LG tech but so far their response has extremely unhelpful and I quote "The set is working within spec, what more does the customer want...". As LG refuse to put me through to tech, I have escalated this to a senior manager but I don't know how far I will get.
In the meantime here are some shots, in game its good as any other panel, but off angle its as good as OLED. And regarding the blurriness of the windows font's on the previous TVs, I only realised after getting the plasma that sharpness should have turned off completely for any TV (hence why the fonts look so good in the last shot below) -
