You're like the fourth person to list Rome and The Wire as good TV in the last few weeks, so I guess Rome's going on my list too.

At the risk of talking up something not made by HBO I've been watching Life, the new Attenborough documentary. Incredible stuff as always. There's a few peaks into how they get the shots they do as well. Seriously considering the DVD (released in time for christmas)
I also watched Jericho this year which I thought was great

I thought season 3 of Dexter was a bit weak, though it picked up towards the end. I really enjoyed the general plot of season 4 but found the sidelines boring too. Totally agree, however, with "Harry spells out the plot" - argh!
They need to have some kind of game plan for wrapping the series up.
Anyone know if (the UK) Life on Mars is worth watching?

I liked it a lot at the beginning but got tired of it in season 2, which is when it started to rehash itself and rely almost entirely on obvious, tired gags of the "Isn't it fun to be un-PC?" variety. I also hated the ending, because I thought it was a cheap cop-out (no pun intended).
Having said that, it's definitely fun and has two leads that are perfect for the series. Also, most people liked it better than I did, especially S2.

It's brilliant, although I agree with Thirith that the first series is better than the second.
The 70's hits and Glenister's no-nonsense, in your face, Gene 'you're nicked' Hunt make for a hugely entertaining time. The coma sequences verge on being a bit cheesy but I'm nitpicking.
I wouldn't bother with Ashes to Ashes though (the 80s sequel), can't stand it or the bird that stars in it. Maybe take a look if Culture Club and blue eyeshadow is your thing, though.

So has anyone been watching the Sing-Off competition?
I'm an a capella fan as it is (I did madrigal theatre all through college), but these groups go way beyond anything I was expecting. They're really good. And I really haven't gotten into the other competition shows like American Idol or Got Talent or the dancing ones so much ... But something about these groups, they're all really charismatic and each have their own personality and showmanship. Well, anyway, only three shows, but I'm a big fan of it. The Baelzebubs are probably the favorites to win, and if they do they deserve it ... But any one of the final 4 especially are just superb.

Been watching Stargate Universe. Watchable, especially compared to its brain mashed predecessors. I suppose I need a sci-fi fix now BSG is long gone and I've no interest in Caprica. Only thing I'd say is what happens in ep5 is so obviously going to happen from the start or ep3 that come on guys I read Rendezvous with Rama and most of your fans have probably. If they keep this up it will go downhill, badly.
