Dark AngelHonestly after it turned into Monster-of-the-week shitfest I didn't care about it. It was pretty good up until
the raid on Manticore and whatshisname's heroic suicide though. Its style reminded me a lot of
Gunnm.

I'll certainly agree that the first season was a better, though the second season had its moments too.
That's why I prefaced that sentence with "I don't know if they'd have been able be any good for another season, but...".

fair enough :) just saying that given it was going downhill I'm not sure myself that it would have improved.
Now what irks me is I just read it was axed in favor of Firefly and we all know how that went. Fox, you bastards. :tsktsk:

Power Rangers can be a hard one to call actually. On the one hand I kind of agree with you; every year was another incarnation, which did help to keep things fresh but kind of got a bit too much to handle after a while.
I should admit that I never watched much of it; I just saw bits and pieces and maybe a couple full episodes, but it always seemed like the same thing over and over, which is why it didn't interest me. But perhaps that's because I never really watched it.
Also, it just looked dumb because of the over-emphasized fighting stances and weird-sounding dubbing of the fighting, but ever since I found out that the fighting was comprised of dubbed Japanese clips, it made more sense.

Rumours persist that PR could still return in a year or two.
I wouldn't be surprised, honestly, if fans really loved RPM that much.
And since we're going with cartoons, (

It was the one where they threw all their own rules out the window and started having Sam jump into celebrities and into times outside of his own lifespan. It was dire.
I remember Elvis and Marylin Monroe, as well as thinking that there were a lot of celebrities in the last season. I thought the Civil War one was in S4, but apparently not.
I'm working my way through the series now, watching an episode every so often. I'm about halfway through S3 and I don't get to see it too often, so it may be a while before I get there.
Police Squad and Daria sound interesting.

According to then-ABC entertainment president Tony Thomopoulos (on Entertainment Tonight), "Police Squad! was cancelled because the viewer had to watch it in order to appreciate it." What Thomopoulos meant was that
the viewer had to actually pay close attention to the show in order to get much of the humor, while most other TV shows did not demand as much effort from the viewer.Emphasis mine. So...this is a bad thing? :weird:

http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww300/sneakyjack/romesplash.jpg(
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0384766/) Rome was a fantastic show with insane production value (that came at an insane expense, the reason for its cancellation) that was cut far too short of its planned 5 season run. When writing season 2 the writers were told that the show was too expensive to continue to produce - and this led to them throwing events from the planned seasons 3 and 4 into season 2, leading it to paced pretty frantically. To say it covers alot of history in one season is an understatement :laff: Season 1 is incredible and season 2 is still quite good.

HBO Chairman Chris Albrecht announced in a July 2006 news conference that season two of Rome would be its last, citing the fact that the series (called "notoriously expensive" by Broadcasting & Cable) had been developed under a two-year contract with the BBC that would have been difficult for the BBC to extend due to the series' cost. Of the storyline, co-creator Heller said:
“ I discovered halfway through writing the second season the show was going to end. The second was going to end with the death of Brutus. Third and fourth season would be set in Egypt. Fifth was going to be the rise of the messiah in Palestine. But because we got the heads-up that the second season would be it, I telescoped the third and fourth season into the second one, which accounts for the blazing speed we go through history near the end. There's certainly more than enough history to go around.

http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww300/sneakyjack/carnivale-poster.jpgThat being said, (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319969/) Carnivale has to be the best example of "yanked off the air before its time" that I've ever seen. Seasons 1 and 2 are brilliant character and background builds that show the rise of both good and evil destined to clash - and at the end of season two they do indeed meet head to head.. only to leave the entire series completely unfinished and the outcome of the final battle left as a cliffhanger. No closure, no results from the injuries in the battle - nothing. One of the biggest cases of television 'blue balls' ever. Another victim of getting too big and expensive for its own good.
From Wikipedia:

At the time, HBO made their commitments for only one year at a time, a third season would have meant opening up a new two-season book in Daniel Knauf's six-year plan, including the introduction of new storylines for current and new characters, and further clarification and elaboration on the show's mythology. Fans assumed that the show would be renewed, but an internet leak announced in early May 2005 that the series would not be returning for a third season. HBO confirmed that the show had been cancelled on May 11, 2005. HBO's president Chris Albrecht stated that the network would have considered otherwise if the producers had been willing to lower the price of an episode to US$2 million; but the running costs for the sizable cast, the all-on-location shooting and the number of episodes per season were too enormous for them. The cancellation resulted in several story plot lines being unfinished, and outraged loyal viewers organized petitions and mailing drives to get the show renewed. This generated more than 50,000 emails to the network in a single weekend.
HBO has a long history of producing amazing shows with incredible production values only to have it come back and bite them in the ass and having to make the call to kill them.

You've... never heard of Police Squad?!? The series that launched the Naked Gun movies? :weird:

Twin Peaks really should have gotten a third season. And it should all have transpired inside the black lodge, and with all episodes directed by David Lynch himself.
One show that should have been closed with the one season is Prison Break. It could have died a classic. I was on the edge of my seat through out that entire first season. The second was a big bummer so I left it alone.
