I found it digging into Garrett's animations...
So, everything will be easier now! :thumb:

AFAIK, he said that the animations were there but hard to implement.
By the way, Massimiliano, could you build me a guard with Garrett's skeleton who would be able to execute ladder climbing animations? Or do the usual ones have enough bones for it? I guess one could include ladder climbing guards by sending them to a ladder, start climbing animations and using an elevator. Everything started by volumes indicating in which volume the player and in which the guard is. Or something. :p I'd try it out.

No, it won't be. If you weren't such an ignorant and used the forum search function, you'd see that there were others, long time before you, native English speakers with better knowledge of coding or programming. And they failed. You're actually following more or less the same path.

What do you mean for "hard to implement"??
I see no hardness here... Just adding some tag in the skeleton browser, and seeing if it's possible that those tags matches the ropearrows... etc...
Humm.. today I'm feeling inspired, plus I have back my tower pc from reparation... maybe before evening we could have a Garrett that climbs the rope...

I though about it some days ago, I don't know if effectively it's possible to make an AI climbing, but maybe trying worth..
I can do everything now, guard with Garrett's animations, cow with Garrett animations, cat kicking like a horse.. I will see if I will have some time for realize it.
Unfortunately, the only thing I still cannot do it's reskin properly an AI, since the shockeye's Milkshape plugin works not properly with the unwrap of the AI smeshes.

Humm... the rope animation contained is not available, 'cuz there are a different number (and names?) of bones...
Well, I'll see to recreate ex-novo, if that's possible.

So, I've been able to change the climb down animation. This is just a bit, but it's a good start too :)

http://i36.tinypic.com/2vkj38j.jpgSounds like the animations we need are in the file garrett_08_3rd.PSA.
Now, the next step is understanding how to tell to the machine to do some animation with the rope, because I noticed that the tags in the skeleton browser are related only to the AI.

How have you changed it? Can you get the rope climb animations to work or will you have to alter the ladder climbing ones?

This should be really, REALLY sad... :p

Humm.. Ok, I'll tell ya quickly now: Import the garrett_08_3rd.PSA with ActorX, select and move to the left the animations you don't want to edit, save the part to the right as "something.PSA", import the new file in Milkshape, export it in Half-Life .SMD format, import the SMD with the Chris Cookson's SMD importer for 3dsmax (see somewhere in this forum for the link), edit the timeline adding +1, select all the bones and move forward all the frames by 1, copy the first frame to the timeline position 0, after that play with the timeline and move the bones you want. That's it, if you wanna just move the bones from the original animations. BUT, if you wanna create a new animation, don't forget to play with these buttons:

I don't know if this is possible, I'm still in an experimental way, and I have to know a lof of things before asking definitely to this question.

is there anywhere to download the entire rope arrow?
