I almost got it to work. Now when I try to generate a hull, I get:
"--Type error: Call needs function or class, got: undefined"
What the heck does that mean? Oh well. Still trying, will keep you posted...

Unfortunately, that's not almost working, nor will it ever do.
Plugin DLLs compiled for Max 5.1 will not work with Max 7 without recompilation. And we don't have the source code.

Guys,
I'm still plugging away on the TIM -> 3DS converter, and it's almost ready. However, the reverse, 3ds -> TIM will take a little longer. There is some replicated information in the TIM file, which is easy to generate, and some stuff which is totally new or derived. A lot of it looks DirectX / 3D related, but I'm not sure yet. The replicated information acts as camoflage for the unique stuff, and I have to sort it all out.
Don't worry. Pretty soon, anyone with a 3D editor will be able to make T3 objects and import them into T3. Materials will require a image editor capable of converting to .DDS format, and I have to write a tool to import new materials into the material libraries. It's all coming together, but slowly. (Then again, we've only had the editor for about 2 months).
Keep the faith. :thumb:

Great! :thumb:
Could you release TIM>3DS converter first (when it's ready)? I ask because I already have the tools (3DS MAX) needed to convert 3DS to TIM...

bukary,
Sometime Friday I will release a preliminary command line tool for TIM -> 3DS. I am traveling for work right now and can't get access to everything I need.
Perhaps a week or so later I'll release a GUI version with more capability. It will also be the framework for the 3DS -> TIM converter.
All I need is free time. Seems like it's impossible to get any right now. :grr:
