Hey Guys,
I just landed in Brisbane, here for a conference at Griffiths University. I'll be here until friday then fly back to Canada Saturday morning.
I don't have tons of time to do the tourist thing, but what should I keep my eye out for? I'm staying in West End / South Brisbane (I'm not sure exactly which one) so I have pretty handy access to public transit.
My family wants me to pick up a bunch of the usual gift shop stuff. A boomerang, a koala skin hat, a coin purse made of roo balls etc. I mostly just want to pack my suitcase full of Vegemite for the trip home.
Any tips?

Get yourself some "Tim Tams"!

Hmm... No Tim Tams at the coffee machine.
The South Bank here is quite the place. Certainly won't get bored with only a few days to take it all in.

When you do find 'em, do it with the chocolate ones. The vanilla Tim Tams aren't as moltenly good in my experience. A bit icky, actually.

LOL,
Was at a music club last night called "The Globe." It was SLIGHTLY nicer than most metal / punk clubs I've been to in Canada, complete with the sheet of stainless steel rivetted to the wall passing as a urinal. Good times.
Rather than drinking, I am trying as many kinds of ginger beer that I can, you guys must love the stuff because it sure is easy to find.
The conference is offically over tonight, there is an "Unconference" (whatever that means) going tomorrow hosted by some guy named DJ Sniff at the cultural centre on the south bank that I think I'm going to skip out on. If I'm only here for a week I'll try to get at least one day to do my own thing.
