You need to come around late September or early October. I'm like 15 hours from San Francisco. How about we all meet in Reno, NV?

edit 18-19 August would be best for me if your plans for August stick. I've got a 3 day weekend that week. If not, the second week before that. Or 4 weeks after.

I hope you do get a chance to go to San Francisco, David. I went in 2001 and 2002. I love that city - very energetic.

I stayed with friends when I went so I can't personally recommend any hotels.
