Actually, it's probably wise of me to elicit some opinions of where best to stay - not the hotel specifically but the area: Chinatown/Wharf/UnionSq? Where would the majority of the TTLG shenanigans be taking place?

I figured as much. The place that's my first choice right now and will be getting booked, provided I can swing all the expenses, isn't too far from you.

Within walking distance (20 mins or so) up Geary is Japantown, which has a Benihana, which is a pretty fun place for group dinners. Those I've asked think it sounds good for dinner on the 18th so if it's cool with everyone else I'll see if we can get reservations plus we can try to make Dave eat smelt eggs.

Update: it turns out I'm going to China in August after all, leaving about three days before the meeting. This means that, unless I somehow manage to rapidly master the art of bilocation, I won't be able to join you guys... Meh :(

Hah! I live right in SF, but thankfully I'm spared the ordeal of debating about whether I should go, then pulling out awkwardly at the last minute, 'cause I'm heading for Chicago that very weekend. WOOHOO! :cheeky:

I fear it will be too awkward for me, you see. I think the only way I could do any kind of ttlg meet and greet is if I get drunk off my ass. . .and probably end up in bed with Daveh. . . or end up trying to get Daveh and Stitch in bed with each other. . .. the latter being much more likely.
