April's pretty much a no-no for me - but since I'm a lurker anyway that won't really matter.
David on 15/2/2009 at 10:04
Ok, well sadly I can no longer do April or May for various reasons, so it's pretty much June - September for me. I've added a quick multiple-choice poll so we can see what the most popular dates are.
Please don't vote on the poll if you have no intention of coming. I can always remove your vote.

I held back from posting in this thread until now because I
was scared have too much on my plate in both April and May myself, so I probably wouldn't have been able to make any meet then (although it only takes me about 45min to get to MK :erg:). June onwards is much better for me, too. Plus, with enticements like these, it'd be rude not to go:

http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/3166/43718758uw2.th.jpgI voted for June in the end, since the earlier the better out of those 4 months for me, but really, I should be able to do any of those months.

Aw oh well, fuck savings. June 2009 (voted) or later, just count me in :D
And 2010 in Vegas.

As long as it's at the weekend, I'm good for pretty much any month.
Just depends on persuading the missus to busy herself elsewhere for the day - not that she wouldn't love to hang around with "computer people" ;)

Ok, well June was the most popular month, so unless anyone has any objections, I would propose the weekend of the 6th / 7th of June. Or maybe the starting the Thursday or Friday if anyone is flying in.
If you need a hotel then here are a few that are central to where we're going to be:
(
http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=54) Travelodge (currently £52 / night)
(
http://miltonkeyneshotels.jurysinns.com/jurysinn_miltonkeynes) Jurys Inn (currently £48 / night)
(
http://www.encoremiltonkeynes.co.uk/) Encore (currently from £50 / night)
Jurys Inn will be the best of those.
If you're coming by train, then you'll want Milton Keynes Central, which is about 5 minutes walk from the three hotels I listed.
And if you're one of those dirty Finn's flying in, then you'll probably have to arrive at Heathrow where I can probably pick you up!
rachel on 26/2/2009 at 10:40
Can I pretend being a dirty Finn? One of my flight options is Heathrow :cheeky:
David on 26/2/2009 at 11:03
Yeah, I could pick you up too!

Urgh, I love the British train system. To go from Cambridge to Milton Keynes, a matter of less than fifty miles westward travel, I have to go via London, a journey of 110 miles and at least two hours, depending on connections. I don't suppose anybody would be driving past Cambridge on their way there?
Edit: Wait, I could get a train to Heathrow...only kidding, I know Dave drives a Mini rather than an Espace.

There's a coach service that runs between Cambridge and MK. It takes about the same time as the train, but you don't have to go via London.
