There's been a bit of talk in #thief recently about a 2009 UK TTLG meet in late spring or sometime during the summer.
The general consensus is that the fine city of Milton Keynes which I happen to live in will be the destination as Kryptos/mol has some friends in the area too. Also I wouldn't have to go anywhere, but that's just a happy bonus.
So, this thread is basically to sound out who is interested and what dates would be best for people.
For me, any time from late April and then late May through to the end of August would be good.
And if it does go ahead I can certainly recommend hotels, travelodges and the like.

Dear wife want to explore the shops in MK so could be possible, can't do early May but apart from that I think I'm in :D
You crazies need an ol' man to keep an eye on you...

Bill Bailey: I went to see Metallica - yeah, 'tallica! - and I went to see them at Milton Keynes Bowl. They were being supported by Marilyn Manson - I love Marilyn, Brian? I love Brian, he's great. But anyway what he used to do to get the crowd going was just chant the name of the place over and over. So we were treated to this magnificent spectacle of this eight-foot freak, eyes different colours, wearing a rubber corset, down on one knee shouting "MILTON KEEEEYNES". Stay with me to the grave, that will.

I'll never forget the time I heard this guy who could barely speak English tell someone on the phone, "...and that is MK2 3NE, Milton Keenis?" and the fella on the other end went, "um... I suppose."
Or the time my previous boss was going to move himself and his family there, and I asked him if he was actually planning to move to a "prefabricated city with no inherent culture except for shopping mall trawlers." He nearly threw me out of the office at that point (though, to be fair, he did that fairly often regardless).
He didn't like the farewell card I gave him, either. Guess having it read "So, you got promoted? Why, did the last guy get fired?" didn't do much to help matters. :D
Ah, good times.

This is certainly plausible. For some reason these meetings always end up on dates I can't do, but I can always hope. Mid-August would be out.

I might be tempted to de-lurk for a while to head along to this. Assuming anybody knows who I even am...

I would welcome the chance to visit the mythical beautyspot that is Milton Keynes

You UK types just work out a date, and I'll do my damnest to work it into my calendar. I've got a couple of trips planned for the summer, but mostly I should be good to go! 8)

Not sure I can make it, as I'm in the process of moving into a new flat that's gonna eat a good chunk of my moneys. The later it is, the better the chances :)
We'll see.
