My question to Stephen Russell: Do you ever play the games you do voice work for?
He has said in other interviews that he doesn't because he simply doesn't have the time. Apparently he's always working, whether it be performing or writing.

My question for Stephen would be: Was it your idea during recording for TES5:Skyrim to name the owner of the first store you enter "Valerius"? Because it's your voice he has.
Disregard this question. I already asked him on Twitter. He did not come up with the name "Valerius" for Skyrim, but he did have a laugh when reading the script.

When acting in a game with multiple parts, does he or the other voice actors have any say or input into which of the non-main characters they play? For instance, he might have suggested himself for Raoul the crazy hermit because he could do that Opera-singing voice? Or do the devs just select ahead of time (and fortunately it turned out he could do that type of voice to great effect)?

I assume Stephen has a home studio. What are his favorite microphones and what is his overall “go-to” mic?
Some VO artists do not use pop screens and some do. Does he?
Does he ever get mouth noise (clicks) and what does he do to lessen that (water, green apples, Biotene?)
Thanks!

I like this. As a musician and resident Garrett clone I like techy type questions like this. I roll with an Audio Technica 4033 myself.

Since Garrett was one of the first characters he did voice work for (if we can trust the MobyGames database), how did he feel about the whole experience ? Was the idea of voicing a character in a game a very new, fresh experience for him ? And was he surprised at how narrativelly mature and ambitious/artistic the first Thief game was, for its time ? Was that part of the appeal for him voicing it when he agreed with LGS to hire him for the voice work ?
And though this has probably been already asked: Of the characters he voiced besides Garrett, which of them was his favourite ? Were they his favourite for the writing/characterisation, or the challenge of finding the right voice and demeanour for them ?
P.S. Hope I'm not late with the questions. Wishing the makers of the interview a good time. :)

Ok I guess he at least sees the end result to see how the voice acting was used and how everything turned out in the game. Does he sit through a screening of the game like actors do with movies?

Some actors (Johnny Depp) don't watch their own movies :p.
