My question for Stephen would be: Was it your idea during recording for TES5:Skyrim to name the owner of the first store you enter "Valerius"? Because it's your voice he has.
EDIT: Nevermind. I already know the answer

Driver proposed a very good question. I too would like to know everything about Stephen's view of Garrett as a character: how did the evolution of the character across the three titles impacted his work on the character and vice versa.
Also what are the best moments of acting as Garrett that he remembers, and possibly, why.

1. I'm interested in the character differences between Garrett and Corvo from his perspective acting them, both leading roles, similar gameplay but different circumstances and positions. I mean, there may be shades of G in C in the gameplay, but what about in the character?
2. I've noticed some of his characters he plays more straight (like a dramatic role in a movie, with a realist edge) and others very stylized, almost like a cartoon (Benny & Karras in our world), that I don't think you could get away with as easily in live action. From a voice actor's perspective, are games somewhere between a stylized cartoon & realist drama, or how do you think about when a character should be played more straight vs more stylized?

Question 1: Mr. Russell, were you invited to the protagonist's role in Crysis 2, Alcatraz, approximately in 2010? If I'm not mistaken, there was a Crysis 2 trailer with your voice, and then, at the game itself, Alcatraz has became mute. You know, I would have preferred to hear your voice all the game through :).
Question 2: As you probably know, there is a lot of fan-missions have been created for Thief 1&2&3 (>1000), and a lot are on their way. Did you ever think about dubbing a few of them in your spare time (if you have any)? Did you ever get a request from FM authors to do it? What would you answer if some FM author would ask you about it?
Question 3: Would you agree to be Garrett once again if Eidos Montreal would ask you about it? BTW, what do you think about the Romano Orzari's work in Thief 2014? And about the game itself?

Are there any tips or tricks of the trade you can share for young, aspiring voice actors intending to convey a more convincing character performance?

No need to ask this one. He has been asked on at least one occasion to voice Garrett for FMs and politely said "No", saying it would be in violation of Eidos' ownership of the character IP. You can find the threads about it here if you search. As for voicing other non-canon characters, why would he work pro bono?

Well,
I do it because I'm such a generous person. :p

You're also not getting paid (well, probably) for all of your other voice work. :p

Makes sense. Thanks!

Why some people work on open source software? Out of charity? Because they know that they do the right thing? Something else? I don't know. But I know that those people do exist. Who knows, maybe Mr. Russell will change his mind someday when he learn how much FMs have been created for the trilogy.
