Yeah, it's old hat but it's this year's old hat.
So here's a place to collect links to useful tools, collections of data, non-wiki encyclopedias, glossaries, catalogues, how-to's, calculators, libraries, tips and tricks, collections and other get-it-done stuff.
Ever wonder how tall you'd be if you were a font or if you are worth your weight in troy ounces? Check out (

Ever wonder why a printed periodical and ammunition for a gun can both be called a magazine? (

(
http://data.gov.uk/home) UK Government Data.
Nearly 3,000 datasets available to download, some of which are more interesting than others. For example, starting at 'A', we have Abortion Statistics, Abandoned vehicles...
... and we end up at 'Y' with Years of Life Lost (YLL) as a result of death from tuberculosis.

If you manage to use up all 3000 of those, there's the (

The mental images this man conjures are incredible, and you learn a lot about some pretty cool people (real and fictional, mostly real.)

Possibly not so useful unless you do game editing or something else involving 3D geometry. Very useful for aligning textures.
(

Various calculators regarding money, such as how much an amount of money was worth in the past. E.g. how much the dollar was worth 50 years ago.

Badass of the Week is a new, fave time-wasting site, thank you.
Not nearly as overtly badass, but twisted enough, just for being - (
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html) The CIA World Factbook.
Some handy info consistently organised and cross referenced. For instance, Vatican City is the smallest "country" in the world, by area and population. But its 826 people share over 5,000 telephone main-lines (about six lines per-capita).
The maps are pretty sucky though.
