TTLG Musicians and Music Experts - Reccomendations, if you please. - by Mr.Duck

I usually like to poke around for myself to see what I find in the vast world of music. But being an Average Joe in the area, I once in a while like to probe the experts' opinions and see if I like what they have to offer. Thankfully, more often than not, I tend to like.
During these past times I've decided to take the word of some TTLGers in certain albums and groups and the pay-off has been quite well. With this in mind, I wanted you to help and reccomend me some albums. But right now not just -any- albums, I was thinking more of music on the vein of Boards of Canada, some of Delerium and some good Stars of the Lid thrown in for good measure.
I'm sure more than one of you can tickle my fancy and help a poor musical ignoramus out :).
Btw...much thanks to Ton for some albums he pointed me out which were good as gravy and special thanks to Noid for posting about Tired Sounds of Stars on the Lid (and recentle, The Campfire Headphase by BoC) which got the ball rolling.
Cheers.

A couple albums/artists I haven't seen mentioned around here:
Do Make Say Think- "Goodbye Enemy Airship The Landlord is Dead" & "Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn" -- Canadian post-rock band with tinges of jazz who plays songs that often remind me of BoC for some reason (the same label as Godspeed you black emperor! but I have a feeling gybe! is a bit too morose for Duck).
Four Tet - "Rounds" & "Everything Ecstatic" - A british guy in canada once told me that all of Four Tet is from samples, making him a more abstract DJ shadow type thing, but I don't buy it. Either way Rounds is
really good. Electronic in the barest sense of the word (i.e. created on computers) You can listen to a few samples here: (

I Monster - Neveroddoreven is eating my brain with a vengeance at the moment :).
Client - The Rotherham Sessions is a lovely collection of sparse electronica with that is available free of charge on their (
http://www.client-online.net) website under multimedia.

If you like Delerium, check out the last two Frontline Assembly albums. They're getting pretty close lately. I personaly prefer Epitaph to Civilization.
Not quite like their debut, but What Sound? by Lamb is also worth looking into. Just don't expect a second Gorecki.
Oh, and if you don't have BOC's Geogaddi already, that's a definite must, imo.

Porcupine Tree's "Signify" is a cool mix of ambient, rock, and electronic. It's a great start-to-finish album, one that should be listened to at night with headphones. It's mostly instrumental, but the vocals that are there are usually richly layered. On the whole it's very spacey and dreamlike, and one of the few Porcupine Tree albums I still listen to on a regular basis.
It was recently reissued, and it now comes with a bonus disc of B-sides, all arranged to form a kind of alternate version of the album - rougher, but almost as good.

Ah, good, good...lots of interesting-sounding albums. And a few of the bands mentioned here were reccomended a day before by a friend (Four Tet, Godspeed you black emperor!, etc). Gonna sink my ear into these and hopefully ask for seconds :). Thanks!
Scha - Already got Geogaddi, it is indeed the -SHIT-!!! :D (and yet...I've been more partial to The Campfire Headset...but I love'em both).
How's Mogwai, btw?
Thanks again :).
