Yes, Peadar is a man. :cheeky:
I think SeriousCallersOnly was talking about Strangeblue's book.
Peadar's book is very good, yes. It's aimed at the young adult market, so it is a very easy read, and it is by his own admission pure pulp adventure - no pretensions to great literature. It is really well written though. Worth a shot I'd say.
Bearing in mind that Peadar is a good friend of mine, I think he is a very good writer. I've read a few of his short stories as well and they're really good too. There's a couple of his older short stories and bits from The Inferior on (
http://www.frozenstories.com) his website.
Hey, cool. Thanks for replying. Maybe I'll Amazon.com 'The Inferior' this week. Sounds like a nice, easy (but gripping) read.

One of my papers on Iraq got quoted/paraphrased in a sort of influential book on Iraq policy by the president of the Int'l Peace Institute.
in a very dick-waving thread, i think this is my favourite dick
what was the paper about if you don't mind me asking? (IRAQ obviously, yes)

There were two parts, one doing a critique of the legal argument for the Iraq War; the second part about all sorts of miscellania involved in the reconstruction ... like the relationship between the obligations of the occupying power and int'l orgs like the UN, and there were certain UN resolutions trying to do different things with the reconstruction; I wondered how their legal effect would play out.
The guy used it more for the second part, since that was the big issue at the time (about June after the war). But I think the first part would be most interesting for this crowd. Not sure if you really want to read about it, but since it is a hot topic ...
Edit: I'll put a paraphrase here. It's been a while, so the details may be a bit wobbly...

Yeah ... about that. I had a question, if you don't mind.
So, like, in 1 Kings 4:26 I read:...[stuff]
Well my dear demagogue, in reply to your question, I shall let the wise words of my friend Bruce Dickinson answer for me:
RUUUUUN TOOOOO THEEEEEE HIIIIIIIILLS, RUN FOOOOOR YOOOOUUUUR LIIIIIIIIIIFE!!!!*Flees*

Hey thanks. That's exactly what I wanted - I think anything more than a summary and I'd quickly be drowning in the legalese (others here might want to read all of it though!)
Interesting to see a write-up that's based on the labyrinthine tunnels of international law etc, with no 'moral' angle as such.
